ciemnogrodzianin: There are also no big bundles and no bonuses for XP points, which were kind of incentives in the past sales – these solutions (at least in my case) caused purchasing more games which I wasn't directly interested in. With a flat sale being just a list of regular discounts activated all at once, the only sources of excitement are possible pricing errors ;)
Yes, I feel a bit divided on that. I ended up spending more money but it also made things more interesting. Kind of like the insomnia sales. (Though, wasn't there a piñata game once? I did not like that gambling but it was an effort.)
I once thought right away "That seems like a great price! I think I'll get this game later!" (I don't buy them right away, in case something better comes along mid-sale) ended up to be the
only time I noticed a pricing error (only I did not realize it). It was Torchlight II, BTW.
This "the same, only bigger" is sucking the fun out of the regular events. I get to appreciate the theme, claim the occasional freebie I never cared much about or already owned (still, I appreciate it) and spend two hours to sort through the discounts, trying to optimize my budget with underwhelming results.
