And there is still Weekly Sale ending as usual, on Monday, 26th October 2020, 2 PM UTC. Why move one sale to avoid overlap when another is still overlapping?

Don't you think that the whole idea of upcoming sale is closed for now? Page layout has been changed for TOW release. Why should we expect anything else? I want to believe ;) but can't see any reason at the moment.

You may be right. We haven't mentioned, of course, the most trivial reason for having the weekend sale one day early: some GOG employee pushed the button a day early by mistake.

In view of the usual behavior of GOG, this is probably the most likely solution. :D

I don't know how it is for releases, but for sales mentioned in OP, we've got:
– 25 sales started on Monday
– 9 on Tuesday
– 11 on Wednesday
– 11 on Thursday
– 6 started on Friday
– 0 started on Saturday or Sunday

That's what I thought. But there is always a first time ...
