Yeah, with this "hot summer deals" sale it seems likeliest that I was wrong and the Summer sale likely starts next tuesday. But that would be a very late start to the Summer sale.
Indeed, next week would be late. For those who are just tuning in, the GOG Summer Sale has been between June 6 and June 12 for most of the past several years.
So maybe it's just a very low key sale this year?

June 12 is just ahead...

That would be silly, summer and winter sales are where most people focus their attention to stock up on games, you really don't want something half-baked
Steam supposedly starts its summer sale around the end of June.
It would be a bit silly to compete with them at the time, unless it's a requirement by publishers? Which would by doubly silly.
I don’t like the notion that “GOG shouldn’t have sales at the same dates as Steam, because in that case GOG would lose”. Why would GOG “lose”? What is there to “compete” in anyway? Don’t look only at the absolute numbers of sales, look at the goals each company (and each person at that point) has set. For example, I have set some goals in my life and I want to accomplish them. I don’t mind (or I’m not jealous of) other people’s goals. If others have different goals (higher or lower) I don’t care. I care only to accomplish my goals.

Or if a company has 1000 employees, they may have set a goal of X gold (let’s speak RPG-like) this year. Another company with 1.000.000 employees wouldn’t be happy even with 5X gold as a goal. They would need much more, to support their employees. Next year the 1000-company may set a goal of 1,5X, etc.. That’s fine.

And don’t forget: GOG remain the only company for players to completely download (and play offline) all their games (and not have to check in which game this can be done).
Well, GOG just posted 3 new sales... and all of them lackluster IMO.

Doesn't feel like we're getting closer to a Summer Sale...?
A schedule, deep flash deals, byob's, insomnia weekend, coupons, old (pre2000) and new good releases and some good free games. I don't need more.

That sounds like the Old GOG. This is the New GOG. *sigh*

Yeah, it definitely is nice to see new 'big' title drops during special sales like the Summer sale, but they certainly lost some character, these days there's nothing special about them.
Gog : home of the Groundhog Day type of deals .
I won't clutter this thread up too much, but...

... IMHO GOG has had some good releases the last 6 mos or so, but...

... they have successfully cluttered their calendars with so many haphazard, ill-defined, concurrent sales -- often running many of the same discounts -- that all of the energy has been drained from the promotions. Is it time for the Summer Sale? No idea. I can't even tell you when a Weekly Sale begins... or when any of the multitude of other current sales (that curiously look to have many of the same games at the same discounts) begin or end. There are so many counters and the deals are so similar (AKA monotonous) that I tend to only look to forum members compiling "biggest discount" lists... and even then I'm losing interest.

If I was told that GOG wouldn't have a Summer Sale this year but instead have 20 small, concurrent sales with overlapping content (and expiring at different times), I wouldn't be surprised. Craft the World anyone? Maybe some Whale Rock games?

A few years back department stores near my home started changing from straight aisles to maze-like layouts. Obviously this change was to keep the customer in the store longer. Maybe they'll make another purchase while they wander the maze? But the confusion turned a lot of shoppers off. My complaint? "I can't find what I'm looking for... and... I can't find my way out of here!!" The confusion turned to agitation... and I can guarantee that agitation didn't add up to more sales. Not surprisingly, the store went back to straight, clearly marked aisles.

Well GOG, I'm certainly confused...

Yeah, there are so many new little sales that I tend to scroll through my wishlist every few days and see what's changed.

Speaking of which ... of the 133 available games on my wishlist, 51 are discounted. Might as well be the Summer Sale, no? Maybe you're right - instead of having seasonal mega sales for two weeks apiece, the idea is to have many more concurrent mini sales throughout the year.

^ I agree. It's become so confused and common that the notion of a sale no longer has much meaning. When there were 4 major sales, with special deals in between, it was exciting to login to GOG and browse for deep discounts and hope one's wishlisted items were included. Now it's the same sales on the same titles every other month. Boring.
