Really interesting documentary from Noclip on YouTube :)

For those interested, check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffngZOB1U2A&feature=youtu.be
Yep, it's very good. :)

It also got featured in an announcement thread: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/weekly_sale_noclip_sale_up_to_85_off_e7532
Just finished watching this doc: awesome work from noclip and GOG! They're really passionate about delivering each and every game back from the back, it's (almost?) handcrafting a piece of art (which it is).
That was very informative.
Interesting. I've watched about half of it.

A question that came to mind is what is the hold-up with EA classics that shouldn't be hard to figure out, like other Maxis classics and Hi-Octane. Maybe those rights really are split or they'd be here by now.

Other Maxis Classics: Probably considered too niche, old, or ugly, Or are otherwise hard to get running due to 16-bit fun. Sim Tower does have actually complicated rights due to the creator Yoot Saito having only licenced his game as SimTower. (This is seen later as it was released in the GBA era as "The Tower SP")

SimEarth is stunningly ugly in the IBM PC port and has a massive amount of supplemental material.

SimAnt is at least visually palatable but I don't see it holding much interest.

SimLife and SimFarm are boring and complicated.

Sim Isle wasn't actually developed by Maxis. A lot of people don't like it.

Sim Town is a half-cut version of SimCity 2000, but I suppose it has some interesting concepts.

Sim Park is boring edutainment.

Sim Golf, not to be confused with Sid Meier's SimGolf has so little information, and might have the "real things" problem.

As for SimChopper and Streets, those were already heck to get running back in the day, and I doubt the march of time has made any easier. That and they're both basically unfinished betas rushed to market.
Haven't watched yet but the idea is right on. Game preservation, baby. The upshot of ownership (corporate fanboys please save the "bbbut it's only a llllicense!" rhetoric...there's a well-known saying that "possession is 9/10 of the law", after all ;) ). I am seriously so thankful to this site for being the champion of DRM-free. For people like me, this is it. This is gaming. It is DRM-free or bust. All the 10000000302982w039000ssss of games on Scheme with their online connections essentially do not exist to me. GOG is gaming, and hopefully for a long, long time to come!
Uplifting video.

And really puts all the forum bickering in perspective.

Many should be easily DOSBoxable (though perhaps, like Theme Park, they have issues) and have a decent number of wishlist votes. They might be ugly or boring but if they sell decently or bring GOG good PR I don't see why they'd be rejected. However I can understand SimCopter and Streets; they are supported by nGlide but are probably still very unstable (at least Streets).
Thanks for post the video, a really good documentary. Good work, GOG! ^_^
Just found this on my suggested videos and omg... it's amazing :O!!!

EDIT: GOG is exactly like I imagined from the bits of information I gathered here and there over the years XD <3
