hi @gog
hi community,

i think i am not alone with my problem.

i am playing divinity original sin enhanced edition. meanwhile there is a patch released which is beyond my version i am playing. if i miss a new patch for whatever reasons i am not able to update my game to the latest patch level.

this is not very customer-friendly so please provide a directory where it is possible to download older patch files.

to download the complete game files again is not an acceptable solution.

( i also do not want to use a tool like galaxy for several reasons but this is my personal approach and should not be part of this thread. )

best regards

Sometimes updated versions break the game either script or AI wise as well. Somewhere i recall there being a list of older GoG version of games you should have backed up and not update because of this.

Being able to access older versions of the released game(s) would be nice...
Also, sometimes older versions have fun glitches (or glitches that are useful in speedrunning) that are patched out in newer versions.

In Morrowind, for example, there is a glitch that lets you quickly boost stats by quickly switching weapons that is used in speedruns, but is only found in 1.0. There actually exists a downgrade patch floating around the internet (but note that this reintroduces other bugs, some of which are not so fun).
Yeah it would be really great to have this. Turned out, the newest Witcher 2 version has sometimes a huge problem on Win7, the game crashing every 20mins... So I would love to have the game version without the newest patch, but gog only gives me the final patched version.
This would be great
Nice idea.
It will be good if we have access to older versions. Good suggestion.
Since we have Rollback feature in Galaxy, i don't see a reason not to put the same thing for the webpage.

Is that a rollback to a version that the individual had installed previously, or does it offer up a choice of all of the patches that were offered on the site at one time or another? The first would be helpful, and the second would be ideal.

This, it's possible with Galaxy (and exclusive to it)

I think the official answer was that it would be too much of a hassle on the webpages (mess to look at or a hassle to code/update, not sure what it was anymore, probably the latter)

But the last time I tested it, it was not even available for all games. Only games that got a patch after galaxy was introduced. Or did they change that recently?

Are you updating through galaxy or manually from the library page? I've seen cases where galaxy was downloading a lot more data during updates compared to the manual way, can't point out a specific reason for this though.

As for rollbacks, this can't be available for all games, some devs for example might only send the latest build to GOG which is 99% true in the case of old games.

That's a good point, I'm not really sure. I'd imagine they'd work through the backlog at some point.

CJeannot: snip.
You're not alone, i've seen people complaining about this outside of the GOG forums already.

GOG needs to keep the old patchers available, at least for a while. An "archived downloads" section under each game would work.

They never used to take them down so fast.
