Does it? Getting new clients is good but how about maintaining the current ones? I'm speaking for myself but they already lost me since they didn't even bother to proper communicate with their customers.

No, they're not. If the title was "marketing manager" they'd be doing their job. Doing the job of community manager would require actually being involved in the community.

Communication was a bit weak last year, I agree. (Especially the changes made to library) And you were right I got responsibilities of community manager mixed up with something else.

They seem to be trying to take over every social network by being the loudest and categorically most offended ones while dishing out the meanest harrassment all the time on the go, it's like a crusade with tumblr and twitter being their holy ground and base of operations.
You can just wait for them to be recognized as a religion.
What's more worrying is that these people actually get coverage and attention that they seek.

Great. Now they can twit about their facebook post about new tumblr post about a new twitch stream. I expect a lot of hashtags, vines and selfies and other buzzwords of uncertain meaning.
