So the steam deck is here but there are quite a few games that are constantly needing online pings to the respective servers because DRM through steam and I think GOG has a great marketing opportunity here if they marketed it that you would have no problems with need online. There are some challenges though as I'm not sure GOG has the best linux support? Anyways I feel the marketing team for GOG is a bit lacking and could bring more people over. Sorry if I'm coming off as naïve or not exactly informed but I just want GOG to thrive and more games to come over :)

i don't think that gog has any linux support at all. and as far as i got it right, they also removed any support in general, to cut down costs. i suppose one can call the chat bot "support"

ouch that hurt my soul :(
GOG would be aware of the opportunities out there, more than most folk, and so if they seem to being ignoring some, that would be deliberate.

As a store eking out DRM-Free survival, they would be looking to make money anywhere it is viable.

They have declared they don't support Linux, so obviously they don't see any profit, probably the opposite, in doing so. But at least a good number of games here have a Linux variant here, which will have to do I guess, until Linux build a bigger gamer base.

I agree that GOG is missing an opportunity here. DRM Free, offline capable games are perfect for the deck.

Realistically, the opportunity was missed years ago when they decided to not support Linux with Galaxy. Had there been a Linux version of Galaxy on flathub for the deck to use, it would have been pretty seamless to use GOG on the deck, right out of the box.
As Steam is apparently the biggest on the market of PC gaming right now, I'd imagine that Linux gaming is going to improve consistently from now on if they keep pushing Proton and Steam Deck. Maybe it's just a matter of time.

What I really am afraid, though, is exclusively DRM gaming being pushed heavily to Linux environment, which it seems is also what Valve is doing... And we can't say they're not succeding in this already - mainly because of Proton.

Let's hope DRM Free stores rise up to counter this, or at least, balance it a little bit.
GOG has already stated when Steam deck first came out that they will not be offering any support whatsoever for it.
