When i load up GOG Galaxy I've been getting a window pop up telling me theres a problem updating the application. It says I can download the latest version and provides a link. But downloading and reinstalling it the message persists.

Galaxy is still working otherwise, though i'm not sure if it's able to auto update anymore. The main thing I want to know is am i an isolated case or is everyone getting that message pop up on launch?

There really must be about a million post on this subject here right now. Not to mention this is at least your second on the subject:

And a sticky:

Sorry when i tried to find my earlier post I couldnt find it. Before making this thread, i tried to search for my last one under 'my posts' but for some reason it didnt come up amongst them so i thought it got removed. Hence I made another thread. I wasn't trying to be funny or anything like that. Had it come up I would not have done that. I didn't actually think to look there as the title for the sticky seemed pretty broad, whilst for me it was a specific thing. I even skimmed the general discussion before making my post but I didn't actually see any other threads on that particular subject so I thought it may have been an isolated case.

My earlier post did have a solution from yourself to 'run as administrator' so thanks for that, that fixed it.

I had this error and it persisted as well. As this topic was the first hit in my search results, I shall post my solution.

For me it turned out the cause was a cryptolocker prevention tool called CryptoPrevent. It monitors suspicious code execution at certain locations on the system. Apparently Galaxy does that. Temporarily disabling it solved the problem.

So if you get the error, check if you run any tools or scanners that might intervene with folders and executables.

Thank you for searching first. :)

The program has come up before as causing issues:
