Hi, everyone!

The Galaxy team is hard at work to bring you the Client application that will let you manage your GOG.com games library more conveniently. We’d love for the initial release experience to be as smooth and streamlined as possible for everyone, but releasing an app of this scope is no easy feat.

But before we jump in and hand out the alpha Client, we’d like to set some ground rules.

1) The key word here is ‘alpha’, which means that this is not the final app and not all functionalities are present. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the core tech in the Client on a wider set of computer configurations than what we can locally test on, so only core features are included. Below I will post a detailed list of what is present and what we plan to add in future releases.

2) Alpha also means that you can encounter some unexpected issues. If you have a metered connection (a bandwidth cap or payments per bandwidth used) or you’re currently playing and can’t afford a loss of game time, this might not be for you. In other words, if you want to avoid potential problems with the alpha Client, simply wait for the final release.

3) Please, please, please refrain from posting screenshots, reviews or first impressions, both on our forums or elsewhere, as this is not the final product and many changes will still be made.

If you’ve read all of the above proceed to the signup page: http://www.gog.com/galaxy/alpha

We will be sending out invitations in batches (along with some more info on how to install the client and report bugs), so not everyone will receive one right away.

- Option to keep saves, when uninstalling a game

HOW TO IMPORT EXISTING GAMES INSTALLATIONS INTO GALAXY

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the "+" button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library, then click the More button and select "Manage" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

I guess this is a bug report for the Galaxy client:

Door Kickers doesn't update to the latest version, it seems to be stuck one patch behind (even though GOG has the latest patch on the website).

Seems that the update in question was not (yet) pushed to GOG Galaxy Content System for whatever reason. Please do report this on http://mantis.gog.com.
Will Alone in the Dark 1 2 and 3 and the original versions of Broken Sword 1 and 2 be separated out into their own library entries, like other games have done?

It doesn't seem to be currently planned.
I want the launcher too! :3

Any new info when there will be a stand alone installer for single player of AvP?

He was pretty explicit earlier:

Destro: - Once the Client is out and proven working, we will remove the launcher from the installers

mike_cesara: As it states in the very first, blue post, It's getting better almost avery week. My Galaxy library started with very few games and now almost all of my collection is availabale througjh the client. Patience is the key : ) I do not have Wasteland, but I think you could mention about it on http://mantis.gog.com
You completely missed my point. I wasn't complaining about games not being there, I was stating that games that aren't supported (or I thought weren't) were being detected by the scan.
Edit: Nevermind, game is present as 'Return of the Incredible Machine Contraptions'.

Is it possible to force the Galaxy Client to check for updates? Mine had updated to 0.6 just fine, and I had to uninstall/reinstall.

So I downloaded the 0.5 client from my account page and now it won't update itself.

Try to just restart the app. If it does not auto update to 0.6 please file a ticket at http://mantis.gog.com and attach your logs.
Hi, the client tells me that there's an update for Sunless Sea, it tries to download it, loses the connection, tells me that he could not update, reconnects and keeps looping this. It updated Hotline Miami and Legends of Grimrock, too (very small updates), even if I can't see any news about such updates.
I was thinking that this program really needs a 'back' function. Perhaps it is there but I missed it, however, and it's possible someone else mentioned this functionality in the previous pages. I was installing a lot of games to my new drive since I was just accepted into the alpha, and it was somewhat tedious that apparently after each installation or just viewing a game, I had to go back to my library and tab through multiple pages to see which games I hadn't even looked at yet. I think this would just be a good general feature to have. On that note, it seems to be surprisingly solid for an alpha. I've installed multiple games and tested them out with no significant problems.

Seconding. Dropped in to mention the same thing. A back/forward function would be great.

Besides that, am getting some issues on my second page of games from the library. None of the installed games get displayed as such, and that clickable arrow only does say install regardless if the game is actually installed.

That also reminds me, an installer checker for unbundled games would be nice. It worked well enough with single games after moving them from the folder I got them into with the downloader, but the bundled games there aren't recognized. So right now I am left with the option of guessing the names of the new folders, moving the games from the bundled folder into their new directories and try an install from Galaxy in the hopes of finding most of the files and fixing the rest of the install, or simply reinstalling all the unbundled games. Wouldn't it be possible to sync your installation folder with your current game list so that it finds already installed games on it's own? Which also reminds me an option for a secondary library folder would be a welcomed addition as well.
one question, in the games with DLCs, galaxy installs them? or the user have to do it?
