Hi, everyone!

The Galaxy team is hard at work to bring you the Client application that will let you manage your GOG.com games library more conveniently. We’d love for the initial release experience to be as smooth and streamlined as possible for everyone, but releasing an app of this scope is no easy feat.

But before we jump in and hand out the alpha Client, we’d like to set some ground rules.

1) The key word here is ‘alpha’, which means that this is not the final app and not all functionalities are present. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the core tech in the Client on a wider set of computer configurations than what we can locally test on, so only core features are included. Below I will post a detailed list of what is present and what we plan to add in future releases.

2) Alpha also means that you can encounter some unexpected issues. If you have a metered connection (a bandwidth cap or payments per bandwidth used) or you’re currently playing and can’t afford a loss of game time, this might not be for you. In other words, if you want to avoid potential problems with the alpha Client, simply wait for the final release.

3) Please, please, please refrain from posting screenshots, reviews or first impressions, both on our forums or elsewhere, as this is not the final product and many changes will still be made.

If you’ve read all of the above proceed to the signup page: http://www.gog.com/galaxy/alpha

We will be sending out invitations in batches (along with some more info on how to install the client and report bugs), so not everyone will receive one right away.

HOW TO IMPORT EXISTING GAMES INSTALLATIONS INTO GALAXY

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the "+" button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library, then click the More button and select "Manage" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

Very tempting but I'll have to wait till Beta. My Win7 x64 systems run 24/7, as do my Game Clients (Origin & Steam), I also have a ton of games to install/uninstall but I have so little time for complex replies.

Regardless, it's great to see fresh news on GoG Galaxy. With Steam trying to release Old games now, and with their new music/movie section, I was getting worried about my favourite distributor :)

Rapid81: Hi there!
I just downloaded the Galaxy Alpha and only half of my games are showing in the Library. It shows 12, but I have 24. Any idea?
Same situation here. Shows: 7, in reality I've got 16.

As mentioned it's a known issue, Galaxy currently only support around 350 games out of the ~890 of the GoG catalog.

BKGaming: That would be a good feature to have, as well as the ability to add a icon/background pic for any third party shortcut we add.
avatar
paladin181: Maybe we should just have them request to integrate Launchbox with the thing. :P I use it for my games anyhow, but I figured that having the client be well rounded couldn't hurt.
I've been looking for a game launcher forever before Galaxy was released, never seen this one at all... dang, wish I had seen that a lot sooner, but now Galaxy is great for what I want. Just needs the rest of GOG games added.

I love Launchbox. It takes some setting up, but it's clean and effective. It really lets me browse my shelves the way I want.
What? I have to go to my web-based GOG gaming library to download the Galaxy client alpha? Can't I just download using the Galaxy client alpha?

Oh, hang on....
Bug Report:

"BLOOD OMEN 2" is launched directly when I choose:

LEGACY OF KAIN BLOOD OMEN 2>MORE>SETTINGS.

The game was instaled on:
D:\Juegos\GOG Games\Legacy of Kain Blood Omen 2

please check the parameter...

I have uninstaled the game and downloaded from the Galaxy Client and works fine. I've unintaled again and used my stand alone instaled and failed again.

maybe is an incompatibity of the stand alone installer?

sharp299: Bug Report:
You're supposed to report bugs on http://mantis.gog.com. (I know, it's not obvious).
I have a suggestion.
In the My Library view There is the My purchases Tab.
What about a Installed Games tab as well?
Allowing users to have their games in Either grid or List view, in a more orderly way desired.

Then The long column of games on the left are only there to notify of installations and updates. :)

This should exist, but as a filter under 'my library'. For example click on 'all games' and it would be possible to filter only installed games. Edit: or, this needs to exist I should probably say.

I'm missing a filter on the store itself too, to filter out games you own. This was possible before. I don't mean before gog galaxy, hehe, it was removed quite a while ago and has nothing to do with gog galaxy of course. Just a general complaint. We need it back.

Hello Everyone,

So I have been having fun installing and uninstalling games using the Galaxy client. I have had one strange bug/fix with the game The Chronicles Of Riddick.

I have been installing games to my D drive and have had around 6gig of space on my C drive when TCOR tried to install to my D drive (over 600gig of space) it kept failing stating not enough space. I cleaned up my C drive and released some extra space 10gig and the games has now installed fine on my D drive.

Just wondered if anyone else had this issue/fix or the fact that I just need extra space on the C drive for temp files...

Looks good so far GOG and enjoying the current UI

In settings you have an option for both the "temporary files" and for the "library" folder, by default both are on C:, you have to change them both to point to D:.

But be careful, it only work for newly queued games, if you enqueue a game to be downloaded then change the temporary download folder, it will still be downloaded to the original folder that was sent when you queue it.

No icon and screens behind the menu when ARMA COLD WAR ASSAULT is been intalled. The game seems to run fine though.
