Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

It has very little space left on it varying between 1-4GB on any given day and I put all my game downloads, installations etc. on my E: and F: hard disks. If Galaxy is temporarily downloading to C: before moving files elsewhere it's going to end up filling my SSD and causing a problem eventually I imagine. I'll have to investigate this more and if it is doing that I'll have to move the temp directory it uses onto somewhere on my E: drive and set up a junction point on C: to point to E: to "fix" it. :)

Thanks for the warning though, I've been using Galaxy client for a few months now lightly testing mostly small games but I have had some failures and it could be due to something like C: filling. I definitely need to investigate more deeply.
You can manually set where Galaxy utilizes the temp directory for downloads under the Galaxy settings. So if change this to another hard-drive before downloading again, you should be okay.

I had a look and couldn't find a changelog in Galaxy or the site etc. I had tonnes of problems with Warband personally so if it's updated I'm hoping some/all of the issues have been fixed as I *loved* Mount and Blade and everyone says Warband is better, but I had tonnes of problems with it which was very disappointing. Fingers crossed!

Yes, this is normal behaviour and yes, the wishlist is sharable.

Go to your privacy settings to set your wishlist to be readable either by nobody, friends or anybody. In the first case the link will always give a 404, in the second case the link will show your wishlist if the user is logged in and you have confirmed their friend request (or the other way round) otherwise it will show a 404, in the third case the link will always show your wishlist.

The default is to share with friends so it works as expected.

Ah, in that case the problem shouldn't affect me as I changed all 3 of the directories to be not on C: already. Galaxy itself is installed on C: and puts its logs and stuff on C: but I'm hoping the amount of space it uses is in the 200MB or less range. I dunno how big ProgramData gets but I'll have to check that also. If it grows over time in any substantial way I'll have to uninstall it and reinstall it on E: if the option is there, or use a junction point or symlink trick or some other hackery. Either way, I will prevail! :)

Yeah, I just checked and the GOG dir on C:\ProgramData is 500MB which is not currently a problem but will absolutely become one if I let it keep growing. If there's no way to move where it stores that data around via configuration, then I'm definitely going to have to use a junction point but that's not a big deal for me really, I do that with a number of other applications already. It's very self-empowering! :)

Gibush: This has probably been gone over, but question.

I pointed GOG Galaxy to my old (non-Galaxy) installation of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. It detected it and started apparently reinstalling (I assume that's what the OP means by "overwriting files".

But it's only 6gb. Does GOG Galaxy only install one language, as in English? Because that'd be useful, actually. I remember the alternate voices taking up quite a few GBs in the original installation.
I don't remember exactly how it works for The Witcher, but if under MORE -> CONFIGURE you can see a language selector (it's disabled during install / update process) then it's exactly what you're saying.

It works the same way for The Witcher 3 - by defauly it installs English only voiceovers (and all subtitles), but with the picker you can install additional voice-over. Later on we will add pre-config window at the start of installation so you will be able to pick the language up front.

Yep, it's probably more of a corner-case scenario too rather than one many will encounter as a % of users I imagine. :) I'm a little forgiving about such things though too as my mind thinks in terms of filesystem heirarchy layout in Linux/UNIX where such things would be dumped somewhere under /var either on the root partition or some submounted partition of that, and ultimately Windows has such capabilities too even though almost nobody uses it. ;oP

ULTIMATELY though, I really really really really really really REALLY need a bigger SSD drive. I thought 120Gb would be huge compared to what I was used to when I built this machine but holy crap did I ever underestimate how massive modern games and other software are, especially DAW and other audio production software. Holy crapsticks batman! I don't even know what that means! I totally need a 240-480+GB SSD that doesn't suck for a good price though one of these days... :)

It appears that the client may not do a hash comparison on any local files already present but rather appears to do a direct download always even if the files already exist locally. Also, all installation is via the network right now because that is what they want to stress test to fix bugs in right now to make sure it is ready when they release it.

These are both something that is incomplete in the beta release currently but which hopefully GOG will improve and address in future builds before the product is officially released. Hopefully the option will be added to install from a local dir containing the installer backups at some point. I know that will end up being my preferred method of installation. I'll download all things to back up locally, install from my backup and then Galaxy can do its network sync to ensure the latest version is present (unless I disable it). At least that's how I hope it ends up in the end. If not, I'll probably do my installation from my local backups outside of Galaxy then import them into Galaxy but it'd sure be convenient to do all of that within the client in a nice easy to configure way. :) Just a minor detail though to sort out along the way...

There seems to be a major issue with the "Manage" -> "Import Folder" procedure, in that required files are downloaded multiple times for different games.

For example, in the attached screenshots, you can see that Direct X and MSVC2005 have been DL'ed twice, once as part of the NWN2 download and then again for the Risen download.

Not only is this time consuming, but is a concern for those of us that have data cap restrictions for our broadband.

I don't believe required files are DL'ed when going through the GOG Downloader app, so this appears to be isolated to the GOG Galaxy functionality.

Can this please be looked at?

I don't think that they'll change this. It's the same way this works on Steam and it's the same way it has worked before. In every GOG Installer you've downloaded through GOG downloader or manually there were the required redist packages contained - no matter if you already had installed them or not.

Thanks for the reply. I can confirm that this definitely did not happen previously.

I create a backup of my game installation folders so I know that the "redist" folder did not exist prior to activating the "Manage" -> "Import Folder" routine.

Please have a look at the attached screenshot. You can see the backup 7z archive on the right (created on 5 Apr 2014), which only has 2 folders in it, "bin" and "data". On the left you can see my current Risen installation folder, which has the "redist" folder that was DL'ed only a few hours ago.

Galaxy keeps deleting installed games after updating itself. This sucks, as I had the whole 26G of Witcher 3 downloaded already, now it's all gone. WTF.

On a side note: I use a folder witin the Galaxy-Client to install games to (E:\GalaxyClient\Installed Games\)
If this is causing this issue FIX IT (please).
