Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

win7sp1 here with only security patches installed since installation. first install of galaxy, but i have numerous gog games installed already.
had "error api-ms-win-ctr-runtime-l1-1-0.dll blabla" on start of galaxy client.
stopped "Windows Update" service
installed kb3118401 (thanks to link in https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_beta_2/post3782)
could press "uninstall...repair" on "Microsoft..2015 Redist..(x86)" in "programs and features".
now error is gone, but "there was a problem with updating the application" is displayed, but galaxy client (1.1.17 beta) runs normally (as far as i can tell if "you have not games installed yet"). pressed "more.. manage installation.. import folder" on my shadow warrior 2 folder and now it's "updating..getting file list" for minutes even though i just installed the newest version of the game already.
worst launcher ever.
pity i have to use it for multiplayer :-(
edit: reinstalled galaxy and now "there was a problem with updating the application" is gone too.

bottom line, the "Microsoft..2015 Redist..(x86)" is just stalling on some systems which only cure is to disable the "windows update" service.

proposed bugfix for developers: galaxy should stop "windows update" service before starting the "Microsoft..2015 Redist..(x86).exe" and enable it again when it's done.

Newer games should be detected no problem by "scan folders", import is only needed for games that GOG has never bothered to update the installer package to add Galaxy metadata et al to. Having said that, once the games are registered Galaxy performs an automatic verification process where it scans all of the files of the game on your hard disk and compares them to what the GOG server side copy of the game is in order to determine if the installed version of the game is updated or not and whether it might be corrupted or not. While this is a good idea, the actual way it works is a little rough around the edges IMHO, and there's no way to back out of it and say "just don't do that, I'll take my chances". More annoyingly is that it makes it a blocking operation, meaning you can not launch the game until Galaxy has verified the installation and "approves" that it is not corrupted. This operation should NOT be a blocking operation, and instead should be asynchronous IMHO and behind the scenes even, only popping up visuals if something is detected as wrong in the background, while gladly letting you run what you've installed in the mean time.

I hate for example installing The Witcher 3 and all DLC etc. from standalone installers, then waiting 50 years for Galaxy to validate the installation, download a few hundred megs of whatever dependencies (that are already actually installed anyway), and then spend a half hour or whatever validating the game before making the [Play] button green and active. They need to improve that process to have a better more interactive user interface experience, making whatever compromises are necessary to do so IMHO.

The other annoyance, is installing the game and the DLC and Galaxy doesn't detect the DLC is installed. I did however find some hidden undocumented commandline options for GalaxyClient which seem to suggest there is a way to inform Galaxy that you have installed the DLC too. I haven't tested that yet though. Really, the standalone DLC installers should be invoking GalaxyClient to register their installation with that rather than someone having to do it manually using undocumented commandline options they are unaware even exist. :)
FYI: New versions of Galaxy do not run on XP/VIsta because new versions of Chromium Embedded Framework (libcef.dll) require Windows 7 to run. Chromium Embedded Framework is a component used by Galaxy. So, in a sense, developers of Galaxy should not be blamed for lack of the support for XP/Vista....

BadDecissions: Did GOG ever announce some sort of road map for this? How long is the beta supposed to last?
Yea I don't know, I wish it was faster but I am not sure if there is and end anytime soon. I believe we will see the features as they come, I don't think features are done and not shown yet but I could be wrong.

Not the proper place for said question, but we are a friendly bunch.
You should be able to set your preferred currency in your account settings page, and you will be charged depending on what currency you have selected. It is usually better to be charged in your local currency, since quite a few banks charge a conversion fee, though if you prefer to pay in USD for some reason, you always have said choice.
While the prices should be similar no matter the currency you pay in, GOG doesn't update the exchange rate every day, but when there has been a significant change (which could mean every week, or every sixth month, depending on the currency). So check the exchange rate and use what's more advantageous for you.

Yep, the road map is "when it's ready(TM)". The beta time frame is "Until it's done.(TM)" :)

skeletonbow:
Thanks. Hoped I could use it with Steam for screenshotting, Guess not.

So still no XP/Vista support? OK, no problem folks. No support = no money.

Bye.

Accoun: Thanks. Hoped I could use it with Steam for screenshotting, Guess not.
You can launch GOG games from Steam, but I'm not aware of any way to launch them from Steam through Galaxy so that it is also active and can track game time. There might be a way to do it but I tinkered with it before and couldn't ever find a way to get it to work. Haven't heard of anyone else being able to get that to work either. Kind of sucks because sometimes you want to be able to take screenshots, other times to broadcast video using Steam broadcasting, or an FPS counter or other things and there's no way to do it without losing all of Galaxy's features unless you use 3rd party software, some of which might require the creation of additional online accounts, and some of which are not free of cost.

I'm personally not interested in adding a cacophony of additional software to my system, so I just use Steam client when I want those features, but like you - I lose out on game time tracking. I don't think GOG has ever even mentioned whether or not they plan to add screenshot, video broadcasting, FPS counter or other such overlay centric features, but there did used to be a "screenshots" folder in Galaxy's data directory at one point.

All we can do for now is wait and tap our feet I guess. :)

That's all? Normally XP users throw a bigger tantrum than that. Kind of disappointed. :)

It boggles my mind that there are so many people here that demand support for an OS that has had 3 successor OSes, and hasn't had a major update in more than 7 years. (Or 4 successor OSes and no major update in 8 years if they're using Windows XP)

Perhaps you guys would like support for your Windows 98SE machines as well, so you can keep using your floppy drives?

On steam there are about 1.7% users of XP/Vista. On GOG this is probably higher, say 2%. Long time ago, I read somewhere that GOG had 3 000 000 registered users. 2% of this number is 60 000. I think it is still worth to keep a version of Galaxy for these users...

Yeah, I don't think GOG wants to pay Google to add support for XP back to their Chromium Embedded Framework which is the core web foundation in Galaxy, nor to take 10 years to write their own browser engine from scratch, although I'm sure that they were tempted to do it just to be able to add support for an operating system they stated for 2 years was officially not supported and is dropping users month after month like flies. :)

Believe it or not, there are occasional thread posts that crop up in the forums from people bitching that they can't play GOG games on ancient 90s PCs running authentic MSDOS or Windows 95 because the installers wont work, and the games have been modified to run on modern operating systems in a variety of ways, often which causes them to no longer function on the original OS the given game was made for. So yeah, there are people out there like that still. All 5 of them or whatever. :)
