Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Sunder_19: It's an older PC and I'm worried that is the issue....Windows XP. PC is 8-10 years old, but perfect for Baldur's gate, NWN2, ect
Windows XP Support has been dropped, see here: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_beta_2/post5028

It would be good, if GOG put an OS chec in the Installer and just returns a "This program doesnt work under XP and Vista" when running it. Its not that hard to code and would help alot.
avatar
skeletonbow: What version of Windows are you using?
avatar
XYCat: Windows 10
However, it miraculously updated and started up the client just fine now. I just hope it doesn't happen later that the client won't start up if the update fails.
avatar
sauron256: I haven't been able to open Galaxy in the last week. If I try to open it I get a message "There was a problem with updating the application. You can always install the latest version from: xx"

I've uninstalled and reinstalled (latest version from the website) without any success. Even tried uninstalling my antivirus software but that didn't accomplish anything.

If I run with the runWithoutUpdating flag via the command line the app opens but just shows as "Not Connected"

Has anyone else had the same issue? The only issue I can think of is that the Windows 10 anniversary update installed itself at about the same time Galaxy stopped working.
avatar
PawPaw: Also running win 10 anniversary and i can not get GOG Galaxy to run either..The updater seems to be running in the background when i look at the task manager, but nothing happens and the main program never launches.
We are aware of the issue - the last update introduced a bug where Galaxy won't start if there's connection issues at startup. Will be fixed in next release.

A workaround we can offer right now is turning off your internet connection if you are experiencing this issue. The problem only happens if the connection gets disrupted right at the start of the update process; if there's no connection at all, it should be fine :)

You're right, we'll do that.

Unfortunately, Windows XP and Vista were never officially supported by GOG for GOG Galaxy, and while it would run unofficially on these older operating systems Galaxy was recently updated with components that no longer work on these older operating systems so the program is no longer available for XP/Vista.

Thanks for letting us know, we were on the edge of our seats wondering about that. It was kind of like the half-season cliff hanger in Battlestar Galactica season 2.
That's a shame, but I totally understand. Thanks for the replies though. Guess I gotta put em on my laptop (I did IWD on ipad).....which means I can't use this sweet surround sound system I've had for years for my old PC. I'll miss the Bass from the chunk kills! I guess I could also figure out the manual downloads for BGEE2, SOD, and Pillars of Eternity as well.......can't be that complicated right? The only other question will it make trying to use mods less friendly? Haven not tried any yet., but would love to especially for the Baldur's Gate games.

Basically I Played original Baldur's Gate, NWN 1 &2 when each first came out. Life, marriage, kids have kept me from too much PC gaming last several years. TES Oblivion, NWN2, Titan Quest, Diablo 2, all the Total Wars up thru Empire/Napolean were about the last experiences on PC other than a few games on laptop or ps3.

Hopefully my older non tech savvy brain can figure it all out. Bought BG2 & POE during the great back to school specials and guess i just missed the boat on the easy access of galaxy for those games. I REALLY prefer the PC for games in my den......maybe it's time to convince wife that i need a new PC instead of just the laptop.....

sorry for the off topic ramble, but:

I know its a tad off-topic, but I would love to know if downloading the games (seems like a lot of seperate DLs are required for BG2) with out using Galaxy is very complicated? Does it in anyway affect the ability to use mods? (for a measuring stick, I have began exploring mods for the BGEES, but thus far clueless).

Again, thanks for previous replies & as always any help/direction is appreciated!

There is no probllem downloading them and installing them "old style". For example for BG2EE you have to download the three Intallerfiles and have them in the same folder, then click on the installers exe. Voila, done.
For safer download you could use GOG Downloader or a Downloadmanager for your browser.

For using mods you dont have problems without galaxy. You could even get more problems with galaxy and autoupdate for a game enabled. Could remove your mod while updating.

No, the games themselves are exactly the same whether they are installed via standalone installer or via Galaxy. The only differences to the gaming experience without using Galaxy is the process of downloading them with GOGdownloader or the website and installing them manually by running the installer, running any patch files that are available, manually installing any DLC or other addons etc. The games are started by launching them from a desktop icon or Start menu shortcut, and optional Galaxy features such as game time tracking, achievements, and Galaxy multiplayer that require Galaxy in order to function are not available.

The installed game however is exactly the same, modded the same, etc.

If you haven't found it yet:
https://www.gog.com/downloader
The links for the downloader are a bit hidden, to find them click on the game you want to download and then choose "More" -> "GOG Downloader links"

Well if the Gog downloader hadn't stopped working last year and manual downloads weren't such a pain sometimes, i wouldn't be so p*ssed off about the os support

Wonder where you got your infos from, GOG Downloader still works flawless. Just tested it and no problem at all.
