== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

For some reason Get Connected button on embed.gog.com leads to gog.com/connect instead of embed.gog.com/connect

I believe I know why that is, but the link could still point to the right page if accounts are already connected.

PS I changed the registry. I restarted the PC. The registry still is changed to the new value "Library". Nevertheless, if I start GOG-client and check the settings: it's still "Store". - It keeps ignoring it.

mike_cesara: There are two registry keys you need permission to modify:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\GOG.com\
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\GOG.com\
I am not sure what is the problem to be honest. I am not using windows anymore but still have my win7 installed, with updates turned off for about a year and Galaxy works without any problems there, even latest build.. I'd suspect some windows update if everything worked for you before..
...
I checked the second registry entry, but there is no key to enter anything about it.
This PC, who seems to be doing things his way, has been an Win XP PC before. I replaced the broken harddisk and installed Win 7 on it. It's a weak PC and has a bit trouble running Win 7. I assume that my PC is not reading the registry at all (memory problems?) and is replacing the missing registry entries with general standards from the installation.
When I try to switch the install folder, I cannot change anything in that new window. That is a strong clue for me, that something cannot be done.

The other 2 PCs are more modern and started with Win 7 when I got them. Thus I think that the lacking technical abilities might cause the problem. Those other 2 accepted the changes without problems.

Even if my problem might not get solved, I think it should be posted here. Others might need that information.
The old PC is not my main machine anymore ( because of those restrictions). Nevertheless I tried Gog there. But now it seems I should concentrate on my other horses. At least I won some knowledge and I like to share this knowledge with you.

b1k3rdude: Done - http://mantis.gog.com/view.php?id=4152

I installed Windows 8.1 directly, I didn't not update from 8.0 - but the Galaxy client is telling me I need to run the 8.0-to-8.1 April 2014 update (Windows8.1-KB2919355?)

Just for kicks I ran the above update and predictably is failed as it doesn't apply to my system.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------

Just an update to my post above, as the galaxy client keeps insisting on trying to update on loading I thought I would have have another go.

I have Windows Firewall Control installed, so know when programs try to access the net etc, but despite allowing the updater to access the net it did its usual fail.

So I disabled the firewall entirely and went and made my self a coffee, during this time the updater had tried and succeeded in updating the client.

But now I am at the stage where I am getting the following error as detailed in the 3rd post of this thread -

"the missing api-ms-crt dlls"

So using info from the following thread I managed to uninstall and reinstall VS_2015_x64 -

but am still getting the missing dll error.
I had that error too. I managed to deinstall the vs-2015-files (both 64 and 48 version). I deinstalled gog completely as well. (in fact I deinstalled gog first.) - Afterwards I reinstalled gog galaxy from start. - I spend a real long time watching the installation being stuck at installing the VS files. I really thought it would have been stuck (no sign of life, not even in the task manager - but the task manager said it to be working).
About some 30 minutes later, miraculously the installation finished. I called gog galaxy and it ran smoothly.

I don't know if this might help you, but as I had the same message before (I guess because I interrupted the installation because I thought it to be stuck indefinitely) I thought it might prove valuable for you.
please install windows 7 service pack 1 wat is this shit may i ask ?????

You're not the only one with that problem in last two or three weeks, and usually permission to modify keys helps.
But as you already know, Galaxy is a bit resource hungry and I don't think there is a point (beside testing purposes) using it on older hardware..
Anyway, grab a linux for that machine! : D
Seeing a persistent glitch in the Galaxy client which used to be transient in nature but now appears to happen all of the time. When wanting to download the game backup installers and extras, I go to my game library, type a few letters of the game's name to filter the game list, then the game shows up. Then bring the mouse over the game to the little drop down arrow menu, and when it pops up I slide down to "DOWNLOAD EXTRAS" and click. This does not go to the download page however, it goes to the page where you can install the game and look at your achievements as if you had previously just clicked on the game's thumbnail image. Essentially it ignores the fact you want to download extras and just goes to the install page.

Once you're on the install-game/achievements page however you can click on the "More" button and then go to "Extra Downloads" (nice inconsistent naming of the feature, "Download Extras" in one place, and "Extra Downloads in another"). This then correctly takes you to the downloads page.

It is obvious that this is not the intended behaviour and that a bug is present, making you click on more things than necessary to get to what you want. What is even more strange however, is that if you click on the back-arrow at the top of the page to go back a page through history from the actual download page it goes back to the installer page, then back to the download page, then back to the library page. In other words, making your way TO the download page goes like this:

Library -> (click Download Extras) -> Game install/achievements page -> (click More -> Extras Downloads) Downloads page

Going backwards through history it adds an extra trip to the downloads page that never actually happened:

Downloads page -> (back-arrow) Install page -> (back arrow) Downloads page again -> (back arrow) Library page

It's as if when you click on "Download Extras" originally, the browser inserts the downloads page into the history, then takes you to the game install page and adds it to the history, then you click Extras downloads and it takes you there, but when you reverse back through history it takes an extra stop on the Download Extras page that it never actually brought up in the first place.

To make this weird problem even more obscure and weird, if you have already viewed the download page of a game, then go back to the library view, if you choose to view that game's download page again by following the same steps, the problem does not always occur and you are likely to go directly to the download page this time instead of with the temporary redirect to the game installer page.

One way or another, the page navigation code in the Galaxy web content is screwy and inconsistent. I filed a bug report about this in Mantis previously (don't have the bug ID handy), but the problem is still here many months later. The easiest way to reproduce it is to completely exit Galaxy and make sure no Galaxy related processes are running, then follow the instructions above and it happens every single time for me when I first attempt to access a game's download page from the icon dropdown "Download Extras". Subsequent attempts on the same game after having already been to the download page appear to give random results, sometimes you get the game download page, sometimes the install page. Restarting the client causes everything to reset, so there is some state being kept somewhere that is inconsistently set and inconsistently maintained while the client is running.

Hi skeletonbow. :) This issue is already fixed and will go out in the upcoming release. Also, we'll tackle the text inconsistency soon.

Sweet, looking forward to the new release. I'd suggest just having "Downloads" as the text as that's what people are generally used to IMHO.
Hey dear people,

We have just released the update 1.1.11 for Galaxy. It is mostly a bugfix/maintenance release.

Fixes for dealing with registry keys among others. More about it, as always, you can find in changelog in the sticky post.

Good luck, have fun and thanks for the support and help with resolving the bugs:)

Are you aware that the settings window looks straight from Windows 95 in terms of styling? Also, the fonts on the client are thin and blurry. I'm on Windows 10 Pro (all updates installed), if that helps.

Gog galaxy won't start for me now.
I should probably report that bug I've encountered while playing Van Helsing with the Communications thing crashing after 2 hours.
I'll do so next time I encounter it.

mlk2: Gog galaxy won't start for me now.
Why? What happens? Could you create an issue on mantis.gog.com and include logs from C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\logs? Then perhaps we'll be able to help you.
Im using Windows 7, just recently finished system and sucurtity updates, utimate version. I aslo have Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable (x86) - 14.0.23026 & 11.0.61030 but that doesnt seem to be enough.

Im assuming theres no alternative client that can be used other than Galaxy.

Since this is stated to be in a beta development state version-1.1.10.47, is there something else needed to use Galaxy ?
I had some hope, little as it might be, that this patch has finally fixed my problem with Witcher 3 not launching with overlay enabled. It hasn't. Why is this problem being so consistently ignored by Galaxy devs? I don't even have my mantis report shown in "reported by me" anymore, so much time has passed since I reported it, though I can still access it with the direct link ( http://mantis.gog.com/view.php?id=4078 ).
