Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

ark: My download of The Witcher 3 just restarted from scratch. The download was complete earlier, but I kept receiving an error message when the game tried to install. All my data is still in the GalaxyClient\Games directory, but the client seems to download it all over again anyway. Downloading 34GB takes more than 30 hours for me, so I probably won't be able to play the DLC on Monday. HUGE bummer.
That sounds quite wrong - it should resume from were it stopped. Could you report an issue at http://mantis.gog.com, and post logs from the download process ? It would help us solve this problem.

Liosan
A question, can Galaxy currently track my game time for any GOG game?

Liosan
Sure, I reported it.

It also says "installing" instead of "downloading". When I click on "abort" it warns me that my current download progress will be lost if I choose to abort the installation. Having to download the full game again is already terrible and makes me never want to use this client again, but now I can't even stop the installation without losing progress?

OK, looking into those logs.

When you click the "down arrow" button in the lower left corner, a list of downloads will show - there should be a "Pause All" button.

Galaxy should be able to track time for any GOG game, as long as it was launched from Galaxy Client :)

Liosan
Okay, so I can pause the DOWNLOAD with the "Pause All" button, but if I press the "Abort" button the INSTALLATION stops and I lose all my recent download progress? How does this make sense? There isn't even an installation running at the moment, right? Why does the "Abort" button even exist? Even if I WANTED to abort an INSTALLATION, why would it ever remove my DOWNLOAD progress?
What happens if I pause the download and want to close the client and resume it later ? When I try this the pop up message says it will abort. Does that mean I will lose all the download progress?

Because GOG handles installing vs downloading kind of weird or rather how Galaxy displays this to the end user is kind of weird. If you are installing then you are also downloading as the way Galaxy works is it downloads all game related files first to a temporary folder called temp, then when it finishes it moves the files to the your game folder (which is technically the installation part) and adds registry info, ect.. So when you abort you actually aborting the download if any part of the game is still downloading, and since abort typically means "cancel" or "quit", GOG removes what has already been downloaded so files are not left in this temp directory that the end user may or may not ever finish.

The true installation part happens after this download, and it's typically pretty quick because all Galaxy is really doing is moving the downloaded files. If a user aborts here Galaxy should not remove the downloaded files in my opinion or at-least offer the end user a choice to keep them but that does not currently happen I don't believe.

So I agree from the end user experience, Galaxy should better clarify what it is doing. Downloading is clearly not the same as installing but I assume this is one of those things that will improve as Galaxy get's closer to a release build and out of beta.

Honestly the "Abort" under MORE in unnecessary and can be hidden/removed really in my opinion, if a end user wants to cancel the installation/download then the little "X" next to the download located in the list of downloads should be the only cancel button needed. X is typically universal for cancel and should provide less confusion.

Firestone: What happens if I pause the download and want to close the client and resume it later ? When I try this the pop up message says it will abort. Does that mean I will lose all the download progress?
When you abort your essentially "canceling" the download. Instead click the "down arrow" button in the lower left corner, and a list of downloads will show. Click "Pause All" to pause your current downloads. If you do abort then yes you will lose all downloaded progress. If you pause and close then you should not.

Clearly the abort command causes confusion among end users and that is something GOG needs to handle better...

When I login into my account and connect online using GOG galaxy, the client instantly crashes. I can use it offline but that isn't very helpful. I have turned off any programs (antivirus) that could be interfering. No idea what has been happening but its been happening a while. Tried reinstalling etc, and games do work.

Installing games is quick. The downloads are as fast as expected.

When I download backups via Galaxy, right now I'm getting 0.4 megabits/second.

Going back to installation jumps back to normal speeds.

I've tried adjusting the "Number of concurrent connections" setting between 10, 5 and 1. This does not help anything.

Is there a reason backups are being throttled?
Whats with installed games being patched , but no sign of a patch under backup downloads or any changelog ?
How do i turn of this auto patching , and how to download the patch when its not shown ??
i installed van helsing from the backup download , and later when i happen to fire up the client, it started patching ???
or is something else going on, as far as i can tell i have the backup download as shown ( checked via web page matching file names ) ?
avatar
Galaxy_Stranger: Is there a reason backups are being throttled?
Probably because of the Witcher 3 update which is ~= 11GB altogether or 18GB+ over Galaxy. That's got to be pounding the living snot out of their servers with 234979234798237423 people downloading it either way (although each use different back end servers).
With Witcher 3 Patch 1.10 the Overlay Beta-Channel causes a 16GB download. I guess Overlay only works with version 1.08.4 right now which causes a downgrade...

Maybe the Beta-channel name should also have a notice or something like that when the selected channel isn't supported by the current game version.

I downloaded the W3 patch with GOG downloader (still the thing that works best here). Galaxy however does not seem to recognise this and wants to download the whole 17GB (are you even serious? It's called PATCH for a reason) again. I can abort it and play the game through Galaxy - still ver. 1.10 so there has to be something absolutely wrong in Galaxys update routine.

I also don't like it that Galaxy needs to download additional stuff writing in the registry and listing in my "installed programs" so I have several programs listed twice there. I told GOG about this problem months ago but abviously they don't care.

This was my first time trying the GOG Galaxy Client and I have to say I am horribly disappointed. I should have just bought the game on Steam...
No need to use Steam but also no need to use Galaxy. Both are far from perfect at the moment. Just use the GOG downloader which still works fine: https://www.gog.com/downloader. You can get the links by chosing "More" and "GOG downloader links". For some reason I will never understand they have hidden the only still perfectly working thing.

Can an option be added to remove the news-feeds?

Or maybe the news-feed can become more functional?

Because for a lot of my games, the only item that shows up in there is the news story about the game being released. Which is not what I would consider relevant, since I've already bought the game.

I mean, it might also show a special months after I bought the game where I would have paid less for waiting.

Which is also not helpful.

So here's some ideas:

->Adding the option to disable the news-feed.
->A link to the community page.
->Some sort of page where users can add links to modding sites.
->Details on extras

I mean, SOMETHING THAT'S NOT JUST STATIC.

Is there any hope of the games that are not compatible with Galaxy (e.g. Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space) getting updates to make them compatible? Or am I being too hopeful? Would be nice to have my playtime in those games tracked (as well as not having to resort to third-party patches just to run some of them in fullscreen >_>).
