Hey All,

Newb here - I apologize if this is covered elsewhere but I haven't been able to find it.

I've been downloading backup copies of my purchased games and transferring them to an external drive. I know Galaxy periodically updates installed games in your account, but does it do anything with backup copies that you've downloaded? If it doesn't, would you be able to re-download your previously purchased game down the road when a new operating system came out and GOG updated the game?

I'm just trying to figure out if I should be leaving the downloaded backups in the Galaxy folder on my computer for some reason.

Thanks!

Of course.

No, as far as I'm aware, Galaxy won't update any of the backup installers you've downloaded. You should get library notifications when anything major gets changed or added for download (though the notification system doesn't always work, and even if the flag does appear, it may not necessarily be for anything that would concern you -- addition of Russian language support, for example, or an updated Mac installer for a Windows user).

You can re-download and re-install your games however many times you want (even if the game is removed from sale in the store ;) ).

EDIT: Damn sarcastic German ninjas.

Thanks guys, that's just the info I needed! The backup copy was one of numerous things that appealed to me about GOG. After a huge number of Summer Sale purchases I thought I'd better plan now for optimum storage.
