I've been trying to download games using the gog Downloader. It used to work fine but lately it doesn't.

The program opens fine, it says 'adding [game]' and 'initializing' as normal. But then it jumps straight to 'completed' without downloading anything (not even a partial file found in the designated nor default download folders).

I've tried everything on this page:
https://www.gog.com/support/support_view/gog_com_downloader_issues

And a forum search only found issues with the old downloader stopping working or not starting.
I tried limiting connections to '1' and both limiting and not limiting the download speed. Nothing works so far.

It's the same for all the games I tried.

Any ideas?

it sounds to me like you already have the game version you are trying to download. If it's a newly purchased or new version of a title you already had, then sorry I don't know.
It's either as Rusty_Gunn pointed out or it could be something I once had trouble with. When a download was corrupt for whatever reason, I had to go to the file manually and delete it as the downloader would continually tell me everything was fine and dandy. Afterwards, it downloaded as normal.

To check if you have the right version, go to the file and look at the last decimal number.
for example: setup_age_of_wonders3_2.6.0.21 means it is the GOG-21 download.
Thanks for trying but it's neither of those.
As I said in the post, the downloader downloads nothing (not even a partial file) before saying 'complete'.
And it's doing this on every game I tried. (None of which are even on my internet connected machine - my games machine is separate).
So no game files there, and nothing getting downloaded :(

You're in China mainland? The links used by the GoG Downloader are blocked here. You need to use the "normal" links (download via browser).

Is that what it is? Doh!
It used to work just fine - but I've had problems with the direct downloads before too, depending on the cdn used.

I guess I'll have to stick with the browser downloads (which are working but if too slow, they fail before completing) and hope it completes before quitting (I was trying the downloader because it can resume DL after pausing)

Thanks for the info :)

Yes, downloading via browser is often unstable and slow. Therefore what I normally do is the following:
- Start the download via browser
- Copy the download link from the "Downloads"-tab in the browser
- Cancel the download
- Paste the download link into any download manager and start the download (I use Free Download Manager for that)

The download is not only more stable, but it can also be resumed after an interruption and you can get 8 or more connections at the same time. So the transfer rate can be much higher.

And one more info: A few months ago even the direct download via browser did not work. The solution was to use a different DNS (meanwhile it works again with the default DNS). So in case it happens again, ...

Cool - thanks for the info - I'm trying a DL manager from Firefox addons - 'Down Them All' - works for single files too and can resume after shutting down and rebooting :)
