Kevin04: Thanks for creating and maintaining your great project and congratulations to being made an affiliate! I've been using your dumps on a weekly basis for some time now, so it's good to know that they won't go anywhere anytime soon.
That's great! I'd be interested in how you use the data if that's something you can share.

Kevin04: I've noticed that on Sunday, 537 new product ids were added to the dump with no info about them whatsoever, only containing an empty prices.json with a timestamp.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I apparently forgot to check if the price log was empty before saving it. This was caused by the update I announced in post 672. I will clean this up soon, sorry for the inconveniences.

Kevin04: On that topic, you may want to think about checking api.gog.com/v1/bannedProducts for ids, too.
Thanks, I will.
Hi, a cool site.

Have you considered a specific page or RSS made only for newly released gettable stuff on GOG games/DLCs/Goodies? Made for game collectors and completionists. Like for when the 1st installer/Goodies is added, it's available to buy & released, and is not a demo/package: Only when these 4 factors are in place, not just one.

It'll be majestically wonderful to see.

Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately I don't have the time to implement specialized algorithms for people, but I provide daily data snapshots that can be used to implement such a feature yourself.
ID 1845782087 is a real "Card Shark Artbook" file, not "Unknown" like here:
www.gogdb.org/product/1974923355#references

See api.gog.com/products/1974923355?expand=expanded_dlcs, quote:
"id":1845782087
"title":"Card Shark Artbook"
"purchase_link":"www.gog.com/en/checkout/manual/1845782087"
"slug":"card_shark_artbook"
...
"id":"installer_windows_en"
"name":"Card Shark Artbook"
"os":"windows"
"language":"en"
"language_full":"English"
"version":"1.2.2206160951"
"total_size":5242880

Strange. Why doesn't GOG Database account for this properly as one would expect, why not display downloads of packages in the 1st place, why isn't this API data available visibly on the site?

I did not expect DLCs to only have information available as part of expanded_dlcs, so it is ignored and the updater only "knows" products that have their own full API response. I did not implement this later because it's difficult to work with. It adds potentially multiple authoritative sources for the same data and it introduces synchronization problems in the updater because multiple worker threads might access the same file. It's a valid criticism, I just did not see it as big enough of an issue to throw away the current architecture. Package downloads are displayed if they are part of the package, this is not an issue with the site.

Yepoleb: Good news for everyone waiting for new updates: I've been approached by GOG to join their affiliate program and have done so a month ago!
Is that the reason why you use (have to use?) these tracking links to adtraction.com on your site now?

Yes, af.gog.com is the affiliate domain. I don't have to use the links, but without them nothing would be attributed to me. Do you have an issue with them?

I don't like tracking and was wondering why you would want to help GOG to track their users or if that's a change in GOG's API that it delivers tracking links now. But when you get paid for it and it helps you to maintain your site and work it's only fair. The links get blocked by uBlock though, that's how I recognized them. Is there any link we can use for purchases to benefit you as it used to be for the streamers?

I do not see any "adtraction.com" anywhere, honestly. "af.gog.com" is indeed present.

No issues with that from me personally. I think if someone doesn't like, they always can add "127.0.0.1 af.gog.com" to their "hosts" file, effectively blocking it, or can use uBlock Origin. I think it's far more important for the project to be on good terms with GOG and for GOG Database be well long-term.

af.gog.com gets redirected to track.adtraction.com.

That indeed is new. If they only already would have been more positive towards MaGog...

Oh, I see now. I should've checked that, thanks for the notice.

If the project is in need of public support, I guess making an optional donation page, a Patreon page, or something for purchases, or anything really, might be a good optional way for the people to express gratitude towards hard work done.

Of course if the current way helps enough, alright then.

Yeah, sure. I'm collecting information about achievements and create a weekly changelog to track what's happening with them and to find out if they have been properly introduced into Galaxy/GOG shop or not. That includes getting all achievements of a game (primarily for the total count of them), checking if the game is set to production or development mode, if the product is tagged as having achievements or not, if popular achievements are displayed on the shop page. Maybe some other things I forgot.

I use your dumps because delisted games can still be played and achievements can be unlocked for them - and potentially, they can still be altered by the devpub. Couldn't see an easier way to find all the relevant ids than to use GOG DB for that.

Looking forward to your fix, thanks!

I am not really helping them, GOG will track you regardless and there's not much you can do about it. The links just make attribution a bit more reliable, especially for video creators and streamers. I am also not a fan of tracking generally, but in this case it's very unobtrusive and does not have the same privacy issues commonly associated with it.

If you want to benefit me, use the affiliate link and make a temporary exception in uBlock, there is no other system I know of. If you just want a link that does not get blocked use the "Store link" in the "Store Details" section.
I've been working on a new home page and new charts! See the linked screenshots for a preview.

What a cool project! I've added achievements to my own GOG DB wishlist. If you share your code maybe I can learn from it.

Sorry it's taking so long! I've been working on a lot of bigger changes that I'd like to deploy all at the same time to reduce downtime, so it'll take just a few more days.

That front page looks nice.
Not sure what the marked dates on the chart are though, seem to be quite random?
