Why am I forced to use the GOG app/installer? New guy here, and its a huge turn off, and enough for me not to come back, after all it is DRM free, so, Im super po'd.....

You're free to download directly from the website and not use galaxy.

Go to your library, ignore the shiny big blue button (which is for Galaxy) and click "Download offline backup game". A link appears to download the game directly from your browser, no clients involved (see attached screenshot).
