zoomzoomquoi: that I see all the games that come out and the time we have to wait for them to arrive we reward them more than they reward us on gog we deserve more major releases such as doom 2016 or ninja gaiden 2 black that when we look at everything that comes out on steam at crazy speed and we see that dear gog we have to wait for significant delays life is short and I admit sometimes not having the patience it takes for gog and I'm sorry for example we don't have Rise of the Tomb Raider or doom 2016 and there are so many other games so I don't understand why we have to wait so long for certain games like for example with tomb raider goty but not rise of tomb raider it doesn't make sense we have to wait too long for such old titles don't understand life is ultra short so it's hard to stay loyal to you stop game porno :( gog :)
The reason is quite simple.

DRM-Free is not the way of the world. DRM-Free when it occurs is a kind of exception, and many game developers and owners and publishers do not like DRM-Free ... some hate it very much.

A lot of folk seem to take GOG and DRM-Free for granted, when in reality GOG have chosen a hard and difficult road by only being DRM-Free, and that severely limits the choice of games we get here.

And don't forget, media owners are steadily moving to the stream only model, which will eventually impact games too. In a way, that is the worst DRM of all.

As an example, look at several TV series now, that you simply cannot buy the discs of, except through some suss Chinese site. Owners want to retain full control of their product. It is truly frustrating and annoying, and anti-consumer.

In a very real way, we are lucky that we have GOG and ZOOM Platform and some others, and in 10 years, they may no longer exist or be severely reduced.

And it is not just about the owners either. Many customers just want access to everything and have the money to pay for that kind of streaming service model. And lets be honest, a good number of folk, no doubt the majority, consume once and then move on to the next appealing thing. And it is even the case, that more things are tried now with that kind of model, because it doesn't cost anything more to experiment, give something a try.

So at the end of the day, it is about the negatives versus the positives, of not actually owning anything ... except our devices ... and that may even change in the future to just renting.

The future is all about flexibility and access to a huge number of things I guess.

Nicely stated.
You should have that post on a macro key, as often as all of that apparently needs to be re-stated. :-)
Isnt the OP the one outed for touting that other "platform"?

We got DVDs off ebay for Foyle's War, Lewis, Poldark, Sherlock Holmes, Irish RM, Upstairs Downstairs, All Creatures Great and Small, A Touch of Frost, Rumpole of the Bailey, Insoector Morse, Endeavour, just to name a few, even with subtitles, so we can understand all the "pommy" bollocks those toffs serve up! So, good on ya, mate!
Timboli, now I'm shocked you had to calm down :) in the good sense of the term thank you for bringing me this awareness it's priceless thank you again for this sad truth which I hope will not go any further in order to keep a balance to satisfy everyone but I doubt it according to what you say it's not looking good

Not sure what you are saying here, as I certainly wasn't referring to old stuff. I was referring to the new behavior being adopted by Amazon and Apple etc.

Try and buy The Wheel Of Time TV series, season 2 ... and the 3rd season airs in March.
Try and buy any of the Silo TV series, and the second season has just finished airing.
Try and buy the Strike TV series, and the more recent seasons are not available.
Etc etc.
And especially try and get the blu-ray versions.

If you want to watch a number of new shows now, you can only do it via the relevant streaming service ... or buy or rent the episode via iTunes or Prime. And it appears you need an Apple device for the Apple shows ... at least according to their blurb.

I'm someone who buys the discs of what I like, and own many movies and TV shows on disc.
