CarChris: I surely wasn't aware of that.
On GOG I only download the offline installers and play this way. Of course I haven't installed Galaxy either.
and here I thought I was alone

Congrats to all the winners and thanks mrkgnao for hosting! :)

mrkgnao: Nice. Is it based on some well known song, as you seem to imply?
No, sorry. Im affraid it doesnt
The very plain inspiration is that all it started with me
listing the reasons of why Id need those vgames on my list
But then when composing the post,
The name+reason looked ridiculuous to me
And I temporary placed the reasons below the vgames list...
I remembered a forum member that writes elaborated posts (Guess who)
and decided to go the verse (truly distorted) route...

The music thing is my poor alibi :)
Congrats to everyone & thank you all for joining!

Thank you so much mrkgnao for granting me a wish!
Added to:
-All your contributions (past, present & future) to this community
-Sharing your thoughts, popular or not
-And the cherry on top if not enough: Giving away vgames!

And such generosity is not only from you,
but from many people here!!
All of you make the internet great!!

By the way, what an elegant algorithm of yours,
Thanks for sharing it
Would you mind if I ask how you would include
the participant-list-size & post# to it?
With the purpose to prioritize
The participants with very specific requests vs generalists
and promptly vs late entries

Id really like to know your idea,
but take your time, there is no hurry :)

All I did is copy the participants' requests into a spreadsheet (one row per participant, cell A being the person's name, cells B and up the desired games from most wanted to least). I then used random.org to pick a row, and followed the algorithm step by step (marking won games in green, unavailable ones in red).

I love Excel
yep, specifically that one
& not exactly love, but lack of options...
The last time I checked the alternatives, things like
pivot tables, advanced filtering, charts & conditional formating
were subpar, unfortunately

And a VBA enthusiast as well :)
Congratulations to all the winners!

All of those games are worth playing.

I'm afraid I haven't used Excel in probably 20 years or so.
Congrats to all winners!

Thank mrkgnao for the generosity and the chance.
Congratz to the winners!
Thank you!
