Anakoreten: Now with the Devotion game bullshit I'm happy to announce that this company will have none of my business ever again. Thank God I can still keep the games I have despite telling them to go eat a pallet of dictator **** cheese.
Sorry to inform you that I will still keep buying games from GOG, as I don't consider this Devotion debacle that important, or at least I am not considering GOG to be the guilty part there. So, my announcement just nullified your announcement. Sorry about that. :(
After all, if GOG had agreed to release the game and it would have gotten GOG to financial trouble because all its Chinese users would have fled, I am pretty sure some lawyer in Warsaw would have announced that he will raise a class-action suit against GOG and CDP for not acting with the best interests of the shareholders.

NuffCatnip: If you boycott gog because of Devotion, you should stop doing business with many more corporations that are way shadier, but that would be too much to ask for.
That's definitely something I try to do. Maybe I should close my Blizzard Account next? are they still bad? Well, I disagree with your opinion, therefore you are obviously Hitler. That's just forum discussion 101 dude

NuffCatnip: You childish drama queen just couldn't piss off in silence?
Why am I even asking, of course you couldn't, good riddance.
I'm sure they'll miss you, I mean, you were among their top 10 customers.
Yet here you are shouting when you could have clicked away when you realized I wasn't happy with GOG fucking around with totalitarians who still keep slaves and running concentration camps. Why am I even asking, of course you couldn't, good riddance.
I'm sure they'll miss you, I mean, you were among their top 10 customers.
And you must be their groupie then? Good gig?
NuffCatnip: When I feel like it, which isn't now.
And I probably won't open a new thread in which I bitch about the reason I'm leaving.
Doomjedi: No, you're just gonna bitch endlessly on every thread about how people aren't playing Wamao appologist like you. You and Yeshua have been doing that for what 5 days solid now? And I probably won't open a new thread in which I bitch about the reason I'm leaving.
Yeah, the 'drama queen' thing wasn't projecting or anything rofl

The current situation on gog is like playing whackamole with presstitute plants and hypocrites.
This is the same type of engineered drama that happened with Blizzard, a company that was busy messing gamers about and abusing them for a long time but everyone stayed tight lipped until they banned some guy for political comments.

^This... but be careful... those "free speech" heroes might downvote you for a simple truth like that. They sure need their scapegoat for the shitty condition the world is in. So mobbing GOG is easy and doesn't hurt much (can still go back to Steam...), going against companies that really profit from slave-work, support dictators and warlords and environment destruction, that would mean thinking about their own lifestyle, global economy and capitalist logic, that's really too much to ask.PetrusOctavianus

Ah, yes. More "civil discourse".
At this point, I guess I'm better off just cutting my losses and moving on than expressing disappointment and getting attacked by rabid shills. I hope you're all proud to be corporate pawns in a game you are losing anyway.
CDP, CDPR and GOG are not reliable partners to do business with. The choices made by their management have ranged from erratic to downright malicious. That's all this ever was. This is not about late stage capitalism and African warlords.
It's about a Polish company that has made an effort to destroy the trust of its userbase.

You maybe mistaking the English forum with the German one. The "vocal majority" on the English forum seems to be "less accepting" than on the German one. Just look at which posts get downvoted and upvoted. At this point, I guess I'm better off just cutting my losses and moving on than expressing disappointment and getting attacked by rabid shills. Edit: This may not be the best thread for social studies on cultural/national differences in behavior though.

You sound like you are married to a gaming store. As a GOG customer, I don't feel betrayed so far. I don't buy games from GOG because of politics. I buy them because I want to buy DRM-free games.
I possibly would have bought Devotion from GOG if GOG had decided to offer the game here, but if not, then I guess I won't buy it on GOG. It is just one game, and I can fully understand why GOG now wants to keep distance to the game. It is their company and their money, not mine.
Buying or not buying digital games from GOG is not a political statement from me. Rejecting a politically hot potato game was not a political statement from GOG, other than "we try to keep world politics out of our business".
People who demand GOG to release the game is them demanding GOG to make a strong political statement, even if it possibly hurt GOG's business. (Easy to demand when your own company or money is not on the line.)
IF YOU WANT TO CONTROL HOW GOG RUNS ITS BUSINESS, GO BUY ITS SHARES. AS SIMPLE AS THAT.

Due to them not selling you Devotion the money you would (potentially) have spent on Devotion is now yours and not theirs. Similar with the boycotters: Its their money and their decision. Not GOGs. Just like GOG has the (legal - I am assuming - I dont know the deal they had with the publisher) right to drop Devotion the boycotters have the right to boycott them because it is their money and not GOGs.
timppu: Buying or not buying digital games from GOG is not a political statement from me. Rejecting a politically hot potato game was not a political statement from GOG, other than "we try to keep world politics out of our business".
I think its ("it" = reversing the decision to sell on GOG and trying to placate the CCP due to "hurt feelings" complaint/s on Weibo) exactly the other way round - this was a clear political 'submit-to-CCP' statement. timppu: People who demand GOG to release the game is them demanding GOG to make a strong political statement, even if it possibly hurt GOG's business. (Easy to demand when your own company or money is not on the line.)
But people buying from GOG do put their money "on the line" - it will be used or "abused" by GOG. If its ok for you to give GOG money so they get more market power and can have more such influence as with Devotion thats your choice. But the same is true for someone else to make the opposite choice to not give GOG any more of their money. CD Projekt SA owns GOG and is publicly traded.
