Hello, hope I'm posting on the right board. I had thoughts today that i own a few games DRM-free on gog, that also are available to play on Nintendo Switch (and purchasable though nintendo eShop). I guess this is a weird question, but is there some plan to ever support nintendo switch as an platform natively in gog? Such that i could get a eShop key from my gog key. I get that this gets pretty wonky (wouldn't be done with any other retailer, i.e. steam) but since the platform is so locked i assume this would be the only way.

I also wonder if anyone tried to reach out to gog/developers for a specific title to get a eShop key for a game owned on gog, and if you had luck with it. I know a few developers eho give out keys to other platforms if owned on gog. Thank you in advance :)

It is pointless to ask that here. This is the community forum, staff won't answer and won't reveal company plans.

However: I don't see GOG ever supporting a competing, DRM-laden platform. Even if GOG wanted to, I don't see Nintendo ever allowing that. The whole idea sounds quite absurd.

I know it's not the promotion you're looking for, but something like the ROG Ally would let you play your GOG games on the go.

The Nintendo Switch is essentially a Walled garden, there is no way into that Garden aside from Nintendo's store and since GOG is a game store selling games Nintendo would never allow them access to there garden. CD Project has games in that Garden but you can only buy them from Nintendo you can't use keys from other sites.

Well, as said some developers delieve in DRM-free and as such may give out steam keys if you own a gog key (personal experience). I assume eShop keys can be 'minted' however a developer/publisher likes, but with a certain 'eShop services fee'. This is not about what nintendo gains from it.

Then you should contact these developers and ask them for Nintendo eshop codes.

Seeing as how EU is about to force Apple to allow side-loading and 3rd party stores on iOS, it would be really cool if they did that for consoles too. Oh I think the whole printer model may start to collapse lol.

Most consoles are just glorified physical-based DRMs, and the Switch is no exception. And it is GOG's premise to sell DRM free games, which is the exact opposite of the Switch's business model.

hen why would Nintendo allow it? each copy activated that does not give Nintendo any form of income would instead result in a loss

for Steam the situation is different, as the PC gaming market and stores are very divers, so Steam is making sure that as many people are locked into their system as possible, which they do by allowing keys to be sold outside their system. for Nintendo Switch this is not the case - there is only one system, and Nintendo controlls it.
