Messi_is_Messiah: I would like to join this club!

I need someone to select a game from the gog catalog for me to play. My only request is that it was released before the year 2004. (I'm itching to play an older game)

I guess I'm hoping someone will choose a game that they've played in the past that they really liked, but there are no real rules for me besides the pre 2004 requirement. Thanks in advance!

Random_Coffee: How about Thief?
That sounds like an excellent challenge, I accept :)

I'll keep you updated on my progress, but probably won't be able to get started until after this Thanksgiving weekend.

For you, I choose Omikron- the Nomad Soul.

I hope you enjoy Thief, it's a great game :)

Zchinque already picked a game for me, Commandos. I definitely wouldn't mind playing Omikron next though, I played a lot of it a couple of months ago, and enjoyed it a lot.

I just finished the first level of Commandos. A quick question, what is the keys for quicksave and quickload in that game? :P

Getcomposted: Borrowing from nmorello11's thread "You can only save 10 games from your total library", how about a top 10 or 5 games to play first from your backlog?

Hmmm, for me:
(In no particular order)

1. Pillars of Eternity
2. Divinity: Original Sin
3. Prison Architect
4. The Yawhg
5. Pikmin 2
Just happened to check out this thread and saw your post. Thanks for the shout out. +1

Pillars is in a good spot as your number 1. A very close second best game I've played this year, behind only Dawn of War 1. I assign it to you to complete.

So being that I'm pretty close to finishing up my backlog, I'm just going to put forward a few games that I've already completed, am replaying, or are in progress. In no particular order:

1. Vampire: The Masquerade- Bloodlines. NOTE: This is the only game on this list that I haven't touched
2. Borderlands 2. IN PROGRESS.
3. Fallout: New Vegas. Finished August of 2013. Have just started a replay, as I want to play Fallout 4, but am laying off buying new games at the moment.
4. Tomb Raider (2013): Finished January of 2014. Really loved this game, but I haven't touched it since February of 2014.
5. Darksiders 2: IN PROGRESS.

Some of the functions keys, I believe. F5 to save and F9 to load, if memory serves.

Keep us updated on how you find the game!
As some might have noticed, I'm furiously working on my backlog at the moment although tragically couldn't play Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms and Volgarr the Viking yet for technical reasons and had to abort "Painkiller", since it bored me.

I'm making progress and have found some awesome games in this list. "Bard's Tale" and "Giana Sisters: Rise of the Owlverlord" may be next.

Also playing on "Broken Sword 3", but always have problems motivating myself to play it, because it is so incredibly bad... but I wan't to play the complete series, so might as well endure it...

It's really hard to get back into Gothic 3, but I wanted to play it further too since I've got a graphics card with proper drivers now that can handle it, but it has been so long since I had to abort it and it's hard to pick it up again. I don't want to restart either since I had to play the first 10-20 hours times already thanks to vast technical problems with this buggy mess.

It was a close call, but we have a winner. I'm going to play Might and Magic III next. Thank you to everybody who voted.

Update:
PaterAlf - Might and Magic III
Lionel212008 - Disciples 1 + 2
mindblast - Psychonauts
Hunter65536 - Torchlight 2
Tannath - Sam & Max Hit the Road
Messi_is_Messiah - Thief
Random_Coffee - Commandos

And an update on Psychonauts. I had some times today and i played a little bit more. Passed next 2 bosses and the game started to be more fun that when i started. I remember being a little bit annoyed by the characters popping up and saying stuff every time you would meet them, but now i love their jokes. It's really nice written, as character development really help with making then enjoyable. Did not got any crashes today and it went pretty smooth. Can't wait for next adventures. I hurried up in judging the game, not i can see what the fuss it's all about.

Patience is key, young grasshooper. ;)
First off, this is a GREAT idea! I'm interested in joining the club (if that's still possible), but I would need to tidy up my backlog list first. I could certainly use some help / motivation since I'm currently sitting at a less than 15% completion rate :P

Since this type of thing is in-line with stuff I've been building / looking to build on Completionator, I wanted to also mention it as a means to manage your backlog, if you're in need of one! We're always looking for new community members to provide feedback, if you have any.

A couple of the features I've been interested in building are actually along the same lines of the club idea here and thought I might bounce them off you guys (and try not to hijack the thread). The first one is a well, game "club" / challenge feature, similar to the "play togethers" that I'm sure you've seen before. This would be a first-class feature though, not just a forum thread. I'd like users to be able to select a game (or multiple games for a "playlist"), potentially specify additional challenges (hardcore mode, difficulty level, speed run, other random stipulations like headshots only, whatever), and then they'd have a dedicated place to communicate throughout the challenge and then ultimately mark the game finished and enter the completion time (if they want). So in other words, it would be very tightly integrated with several other key features. The only reason I haven't built this already is we don't have enough site activity to really justify it, but again, thought you guys might be interested in it ;)

The other thing is a little simpler, but it's very similar to the club idea here. I've been calling it "motivation", so if you're looking through a friend's collection and see they haven't played an awesome game yet, you could click a button to "motivate" them, which would send them a message or something and give them inspiration to play it.

Anyways, just thought I'd say great idea (and invite myself in, ha!) and see if Completionator could help anyone here!

Damn, your application it's slick. I already imported my Steam library, looked around a little. Gonna be honest, one of my criteria in finding that kind of site was the ability to import my Steam library. Having over 1000 games makes it a hassle to import them manually anywhere. So that's great.

My only concern it's that i don't find a way to select only Backlogged games in the list or to split a list in more smaller lists. But i'm pretty sure it's there, but it's too late right now for me to see the option.

Other than that, it's awesome. I searched a site like yourself for a wile few days ago. I'll definitely use it. Thanks!

First report on Might and Magic III: I created a nice party (or at least I hope it's nice), bought some stuff, started exploring Fountain Head and died many, many, many times. The I found out that it's easier to explore the area outside of the city. I did that and died some more. But I survived some battles too and now all my characters are on level 3 and don't die that easily any longer. Except for my sorceress which only has three healthpoints. Guess I'll need some better armour for her.

All in all I really like the game. Compared to the first two Might and Magic games they improved a lot of stuff (e.g. there's decent auto-mapping, a quest log and you don't have to type various numbers to cast a spell).

Good Idea! I like the title: "Gentleman's Backlog Club" :)

For now I can't join, because my HD is full(!) so I have to finish some games first in order to install new ones, but later I will join for sure and let you decide which game is next :)

Cool, glad to hear you like it! Regarding the backlogged games, if you're viewing your collection, click on the "Advanced Filters" link and there should be a backlog filter dropdown. You can filter to show games in your backlog, not in your backlog, or everything (this is the default). If you want to toggle a game in / out of your backlog, you can open the edit popup (Quick Edit button) or click on the little button on the far right with the hourglass (it'll also say "Backlogged", depending on your screen size). Now that I'm thinking about it, I think having a "quick filter" to show your backlogged games would be a pretty handy thing to have.

You can create custom lists (which might work even better for the Gentleman's Backlog Club, if you don't want EVERYTHING included, but still want it in your backlog) and add games to them by using the Set Lists button. There isn't a way to bulk add games to a list, but that seems like a GREAT idea. Gonna add that one to my task list.

Oh and the Steam games that were missing have been added, so just run the import again to pick 'em up!

Yeap, awesome. I'm gonna move on your Forums with suggestions and post some games that are messing with my Feng Shui. Mostly some titles. For example Black Mirror series, II and III are "Black Mirror", while first one it's "The Black Mirror", hence that one it's at T and others at B.
Anyway, congrats again, it's really awesome tool, and it like that you don't wait 5 minutes to find or to update a game like on other sites.

Those informative statistics are making me sad. 4,7% completed from my games.
Ok, i'm officially an Psychonaut now.

The game was really nice. It started kinda bad for me, as it needs some time to get the character development going and to also get used with the controls and abilities, but, once i was past the first boss, it was hard for me to stop playing. Characters are done so nice, jokes are not annoying, everything it's great regarding story.

Now, as actual gameplay goes, i had some problems. First of all, the locked camera makes things harder sometimes. Especially when you need to follow a path that's outside of your line of sight. Fortunately, the game does not have so many "false paths" so, it's ok in the end. Controls got a little to get used to, but, in the end worked fine. Attack command it's a little bit odd, especially jump+attack ability, as you can't always pull that off, especially when you are attacked, but, gladly, you don't actually use your basic attack too much.

Only thing that annoyed me in the end were the constant crashes in loading screen. I think i had one of these at every 3-4 loading screens. Game would simply crash and i would have to restart it. But again, the game remembered where i was, so it wasn't such a big deal.

I'm kinda disappointed that we don't have Psychonauts 2. It is pretty much clear that it was planned since they did first one, but something must have gone wrong.

Great recommendations so far. For next one, i would like my game to be picked from GOG Backlog please:
http://www.completionator.com/Collection/Index/10913?digitalFormatProviderIDs=2&isBacklog=true&isHidden=false&shouldBreakOutCompilationGames=false&sortColumn=GameName&sortDirection=ASC

Only exceptions would be Alan Wake and Witcher 2. My PC does not run those very good. I hope i'll get that video card soon. Thanks!
