PoSSeSSeDCoW: Well, duh. Their product literally would not work without an Internet connection. I don't think that's really a valid complaint about the system.

emusan: My main complaint about them is the horrid resoultion and graphics settings they force you to run your games at, especially with a widescreen monitor...
(And other Onlive quotes)

Yeah, it probably depends on your gaming situation, regarding whether you'd go with them or not. I wouldn't, but there are sure some interesting benefits like being able to play a game on lower-end machines (like say a laptop/netbook) which normally can't support some of the games. Or playing it on a non-primary computer in general where you don't have to download/install the game. And who knows about its future, maybe they'll find a way to get console-only games or something onto the PC platform through their system. And the guest viewing system is kind of cool and Xfire-ish, though a bit rough around the edges in general.

But yeah I probably wouldn't buy mainstream games from there either, at regular prices, when I can get the full game from elsewhere. I won't consider an X-day playpass either but I would consider a full one if it were significantly discounted and somehow unavailable for cheap elsewhere. But since I'm too lazy to unsubscribe from their newsletter, I thought I'd dump their "deals" down as a pricing comparison. :)

Foxhack: (Also, does Blade Kitten require Steam? I know it has Steam achievements but I don't know if it buying it at GamersGate will give me a Steam code.)
It's on Impulse too and I believe they don't sell Steam games period.

trusteft: B)You NEED to have internet connection ALL THE TIME, to play any game.

well DUH, that's one of the reasons I don't like it...Obviously it is a valid enough reason to not like their system since this is their system...

Is it? I posit that it's a valid reason for not liking streaming services as a whole, but invalid to not like a specific streaming service because it streams content. This is somewhat obscured by the lack of streaming video game services on the market today.

Let me provide an example from the streaming TV market. It's wide and varied, and quite a few companies have their fingers in that pie. If you were to say you don't like Hulu, because it had streaming video, that would be pointless. Streaming video is what defines its market. It would be more accurate to say that you dislike streaming video services in general, because of the fact that they require an Internet connection. The very nature of their market requires that they use an Internet connection. You either hate every one of them for that reason or hate none of them for it.

It's the same thing for OnLive. You may hate video game streaming services because they require an Internet connection, but you don't hate only OnLive because they require an Internet connection.

Don't worry. After seeing games like Elemental and Dungeons turn out disappointing I have no intention of making day 1 purchases :)

Besides, major backlog anyway xD

Dude, just accept I don't like it. And that I don't really care if you have a problem with me not liking it. It's my opinion, it sucks, it is the worst thing for gaming. If you don't like it, that's your problem.

Let's keep this on topic.

Steam weekend deal: All command and conquer games 75% off (C&C 3, Red Alert 3, their expansions and C&C4)

Man getting some serious playtime and value out of TombRaider Anniversary. 11.2 hours logged just to do 45%. The Tomb Raiding is freaking epic. Several sections require some serious playtime just to advance 5%. POP: Sands of Time has got nothing on this game, and that game was pretty epic when I played it back in 2004.

That HOMM 5 package is a trap. When you get Tribes of the East you automatically get everything from HOMM5. It's a stand alone expansion.

The campaign from the original game and the first expansion pack aren't included.

Crusader Kings is like a mash of The Sims and Europa Universalis. My copy is still en route from eBay, so I haven't played it yet, but from what I hear, it's a very complex game where you try to manage your family dynasty and the war. It's one of Paradox's most popular cult classics.

GoJays2025: The campaign from the original game and the first expansion pack aren't included.
The campaign is 100% not included. Hammers of Fate (the first expansion) added the Fortress city with dwarves. Somehow, and I really have no idea how, I was able to use the Dwarves in skirmish maps using only Tribes of the East. I never bought nor pirated Hammers of Fate, so I really can't explain how that happened at all.
