melchiz: It's fun to ignore what people say and the context of their arguments, right?
I wasn't arguing that you cannot lose an ability, because, durr, you can have an ability, such as the ability to debate soundly. Because that ability is yours, as in, you possess it, you can lose it. However, what exactly is the ability to play a game that one doesn't own? That's not even an ability in the same sense as what you are discussing. If I follow your logic and the logic of the above poster, every time I don't buy a sandwich I lose the ability to eat. For some reason, I can still eat later that day. Strange!
Try harder, please.
Oy. While I agree that weclock's example was rather weak, you are guilty of the exact same thing you accused him of :p
If you don't buy a sandwich one day, you lose out on the "ability" to eat a sandwich that day.

Either way, I find it hilarious that one person's random hissy fit about not being able to play a game because he thought there was DRM has turned into an argument on grammar and whether a saying is appropriate.
Sidenote: I am also kind of peeved that I didn't get FC2 then. I bought it on Impulse and eventually got a free upgrade to the DRM-filled version (and DLC, but seriously, me no likey limited activations). And here was Steam with the DLC and no DRM. Bugger. <$10 for FC2 with the DLC and no limited activations would have been worth it. Ah well.
