That's not true. Read my post above. Unless you mean Steam groups but you can enter any of those just by having a Steam account. Steam groups are not integrated into the game. UT3 has its own friends list that uses Gamespy and it doesn't have anything to do with Steam's friends list.

No, that isn't the case at all. The games use the same servers and MP system regardless of where you purchase them from.

So you are telling me to just get it off of GamersGate since I will have the same experience either way, but the GamersGate version is cheaper, right?

That isn't what I was saying at all. Sure you can use the servers to find people to frag with but what I was saying is more... You'd be able to get friends to play with you easier on Steam. That's all.

All the people I know in real life are too busy studying, or they play Starcraft 2 all the time, instead of playing anything on Steam.

Yeah I was very excited about it until they decided to make the singleplayer component requiring a multiplayer connection too, citing "client-to-server resources" or something like that as the main reason. And then to add on to the confusion, saying that the game is meant to be focused on multiplayer; yet there is actually an MMO version that's a separate product from the main game. Boggles the mind doesn't it. I decided to pass on after that.
Also, DRM-free on Gamersgate is really DRM-free, no additional frills there. Just need to bypass their authentication system.

Talking about D2D. You won't lose your games, you just won't be able to buy any restricted ones based on the country you made your account in.

Skimmed the posts above, but if you'e talking about Unreal Tournament 3, you can buy it anywhere and register it on Steam...

Too bad I got UT1 and UT2004 here on GOG, I paid 6.3 for each and now GG has the Unreal pack for 11,5 usd only.
