Three4Flinching: Galactic Civilizations II is 8.95$ at Impuls.

Is vanilla worth it?
avatar
Nimnio: Conflicted. Yes, Gal Civ 2 vanilla is worth $10, but it's an underhanded sale. The expansion packs (2) add fantastic content, so if you enjoy GC, you're going to want them. Here's the case I'm imagining:

1. Buy Gal Civ 2 vanilla for $10.
2. Play it, love it, want the expansions.
3. Discover that each expansion is $20.
4. Grow resentful.
Ditto for Civ 4...

sebarnolds: You can try the instructions there (i.e. proxy), maybe it works:

For info I am from Belgium and I didn't need to use a proxy.

It's already back on top sellers list. People still care. :P

It's funny that even with -33% discount, it's more expensive than Starcraft 2 :P.

Actually we don't give a bleep about Steam.

That's rather presumptuous.

Cheers! I would say "I hope you enjoy it" but that would be redundant with this game!

Navagon: Most of the interesting stuff there is. Welcome to Impulse.
I still have a copy of Scrapland sitting on their server that I purchased and can't do anything with.

bansama: I really wouldn't recommend buying Sacred 2. If you're running anything other than Win XP, you're going to find it a real pain to install and chances are high that it won't work. The expansion pack (not available from Impulse), fixes some of those issues for Vista, but even then, getting the game to run on Win 7 can be difficult and very time consuming.

If you do decide to get it anyway, be aware that you will need to reinstall Open AL and PhysX due to the installer forcing the installation of older versions that results in corruption.
I play it perfectly on Vista x64, no expansions. Never given me trouble. I've heard win7 is hell for it thou.
Sol Survivor for $5 (50% off) on Steam.

It's also free to play for the weekend. Tried it a bit and the experience is mostly positive. Lacks polish though compared to Defense Grid, but for 5 bucks, I think it's worth it.

If you really want to save more the 4 pack is $3.75 each.
