spinefarm: iDevices only ;)
Well , my brother got an "iDevice" so I told him and he answered , yes , but playing games on the iDevice uses a lot of "Device" power...
I guess he just like some more time between device recharges ;-)

I do not think it is a problem to double post when such free offers occur, right? The reason of my post was the catch, the catch that there are 2 rockstar groups.

As you can see in this thread there is a lot of off-topic chatter and double posting, there is even a guy with coloured text, I think he is sort of hacking and should be banned, here's him:

TheEnigmaticT: Good point. Someone report that guy in the blue text to a mod. He's bogarting the whole thread!
Indeed you're derailing the thread, Mr. Color HaX0r. >:|

Sorry , but I think that you misunderstood , I were not criticising you , I were merely informing you/telling you ;-)
You have been "Ninja'ed" ;-)

And yes , occasionally we have a lot of offtopic fun around here - join the club ;-)

Well i just noticed GoG is having an 1C sale, 9 games for 43 dollars.
After that 81 games for 20 dollars GamersGate deal? Or the 2 games for 5 dollars Amazon deal? How quaint. :)
Next week on Amazon DDL is Serious Sam dirt cheap week.

Has anyone played Avernum?

I'm considering picking the promo bundle up on Steam. Looks alright.

Yeah, just woke up a bit ago and saw this. Still waiting on the coffee to kick in. Just wondering if anyone here had any firsthand experience with them. I'll check them out. Thanks!

Spiderweb Software's games are shareware so pretty much every single one of them has a trial mode/version.

My experience with SW in general is that the interface is meh (even their recent Avadon's interface is kinda crap) and you'll have a lot of walking. The original old Exile games used a separate mode for battles, that put them in separate space (Ultima 3 clone), while in exploration mode your party occupied just a single tile and quickly got around huge tiles. In Avernum and later the battles play in the same space as exploration, and since the developer is allergic to parties blocking off passages completely, every single area is huge. Any shed feels like a hangar, a single-person prison cell is a royal suite. And you'll have to walk across this stuff and hallways all the time.
Mind, the reckless slaying of monsters for XP and occasional dungeon puzzle are fun, if you don't need much story for amusement. The games in that series tend to be more on the free-roam side.
If the Avernum games look intriguing you're likely better off starting with Avadon or the recent Avernum: Escape from the Pit. Generally a lot more user friendly and polished

And that's saying something. In Avadon clicking "Leave Game" in the pause menu gives you a yes/no prompt. It doesn't ask you whether or not you want to quit, oh, no... You're already out, the game's just asking whether you want to save before that or not. And if you click no, you're booted out of the game unsaved. I won't even go on a rant about the absence of any "will use # action points" hints anywhere in the GUI, which turns hard battles into basic math practice.
Aaargh, I'm sad. STALKER was apparently cheap on GamersGate on Thursday. I really want ti and had set it to notify me about price drops, but I didn't get an email for some reason. :(
