Mentalepsy: I wouldn't really compare it to those games, as it's very low-key and constructed around puzzles, with the platforming action and enemy-head-stomping just serving as the medium for those puzzles. Each level incorporates some manner of time manipulation (for example, in some levels, walking right moves time forward, and walking left moves it backwards).
The story (or rather the backstory) is told mostly by little books that you can either read or completely ignore between levels. Here is an example of the writing style.
The demo lets you play a few levels of each world (and read the story), so you might want to check that out.

Thanks for that info on the demo. I just started playing it. I didn't realize it was so puzzle-y. I like it. The story is pretentious, but it has nice music and a decent twist on the old puzzle platformers. I wouldn't pay $15 for it, but at $5 it seems like a good buy. Huh. Pretty solid stuff. Guess I'll buy it. Nice soundtrack, too. Reminds me vaguely of Natalie MacMasters.
It kind of reminds me of Lost Vikings (even if LV was a lot better, at least so far), Snow Bros or Solomon's Key. How none of the reviews I've read mentions that defies logic.

It is a bit like those games, though the gameplay strikes a different tone, I think. The Lost Vikings in particular has some similarities in its construction.
Is it weird that TLV is my favorite Blizzard game? (They weren't even called Blizzard yet back then :p)

Sielle: The question I would ask then is "Was that Valve actively restricting it?" Or was it actually an issue of red tape or even an accident?
I could easily see Valve saying "We need to see a document showing you have legal right to sell that game in that region first" or even "Sorry every other game has been restricted, and we missed un-restricting this one. Sorry."

It was Valve's doing, according to the communication I received from several people at the publishers and developers, it also wasn't a small time publisher; so it's highly unlikely they'd forget any documentation for just one area.
Further to that, Valve have started a new trend of delaying releases in Japan. Take Red Faction Guerrilla, the publishers have announced an international release date of September 18ish, yet Valve won't release the game in Japan until October 29 (and that's just one of several games that Valve have suddenly pushed dates back on for Japan only).
So in the case of Red Faction Guerrilla, I can now either buy it on September 15 from GamersGate or Impulse or wait over a month to buy it from Steam. That's not the publisher; if the restriction was for the region, it'd be the same date on all services.

You know they re-released TLV, Blackthorne and Rock n Roll Racing for GBA right? If you like it, it's worth a purchase.
Gamersgate has Star Assault and Company of Heroes: Opposing Front 50% off.
Time Donkey, Velociraptor Safari, Blush, and Crane Wars bundle for ...50 percent off if you use coupon code provided by Rock Paper Shotgun.
I don't see the point of selling those different CoH packs for 10 euros as you can get the whole deal with both expansions for 12,99... I guess they still can sell those quite well as people don't compare prices. And the boxed version doesn't require discs to run (requiring you to make a Relic online account though). I was looking for those CoH deals online but as I was disappointed constantly, got boxed version...
At least that Braid discount is actually trying something. I'm interested, yet still struggling that I should not buy more games till I've played at least some of those old ones through... Curse you, download services!

I was at a retail store today and I saw SupCom Gold (with FA expack) for $98, or $12 US. New. Just sharing that.
gah! I just swore that i wouldn't buy any more games after the GOG sale "unless it was a good offer on braid." sigh.
thats more money gone...
On the plus side, gamersgate is having an awesome sale, but it's only in the US, Mexico and Canada... so that's saved me some cash...

They sell them here for about $298. Or about 38 dollars. Seriously.
I'm just waiting until Ezri pops in here and post how Johnathanland is having a sail on Minesweeper or some shit....
