As a kid I always waited for my PC because all the games I wanted to play was already there.
Never got a chance to play any games until I became an adult and got a laptop that could run all those games I ever dreamed to play as a kid.

morolf: I don't think there's much chance for Warcraft IV, at least in the foreseeable future, and hasn't the RTS genre pretty much declined into insignificance anyway?
I also wouldn't trust Blizzard anymore with creating something really great...I've never been that much of a Warcraft fan, but really liked the original Starcraft. I did play through Starcraft 2's campaigns, almost up to the end of Legacy of the void...but that last instalment of the series totally killed my interest in the Starcraft universe. The story was idiotic, full of stupid retcons and mystical mumbojumbo about prophecies, none of which made sense.
EDIT: Since you were sort of asking about SC2: Personally I somewhat enjoyed Heart of the Swarm, its missions felt closer to the original Starcraft/Brood wars than WoL had, and you got a real sense of the power of the Zerg, overrunning all opposition in endless waves. That was fun (though not as great as it could have been). But the last part of the series, Legacy of the void, really sucks badly and is horribly boring. Mission design is still ok, if somewhat repetitive, but the story couldn't have been worse.
I'm not holding my breath no. I wouldn't say rts is insignificant these days though. Not that the rts scene is anything like it used to be back in the day of course. Still, a few big ones have come out in recent years and are still incoming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRUxTHW-w64
Dawn of War 3 especially has grabbed my attention, but there are a few things that worry me : no sync kills and Gabriel Angelos sounds stupid compared to how he sounded in DoW1 and 2.

Glad to hear you at least found HotS to be enjoyable. But I wouldn't consider it a plus if the levels are closer the original SC's or Broodwar's levels. Several of the Zerg levels specifically felt very repetitive to me back then. Ugh and let's not forget that damned difficult final broodwar mission playing as the Zerg.

DaCostaBR: How about we share some of these games that captivated us and whether or not they lived up to expectations?
- Hero-U
- Spaceventure

As for living up to the expectations or not... well... I'll get back to you. Maybe.

I think I never played that final Brood War level, the 8th Zerg mission or so was as far as I got.
Personally I didn't really enjoy WoL's missions that much, you're always under some time limit and there are very few missions where you can build up a varied army composed of multiple unit types and just crush your enemies (admittedly that mission design was fitting for the story since you're playing as Raynor's rebel force which is pretty much always outgunned by their opponents). HotS by contrast had some missions where you can build up vast Zerg armies and just mercilessly steamroll all opposition :-) I enjoyed that, and I thought its story was the strongest of all the parts of SC2 (though others disliked it a lot apparently).
Legacy of the void was really horrible though...I had disliked the way the story was going since WoL (that stupid retcon...so the Overmind was actually a good guy??? wtf), but LotV really killed Starcraft's universe for me, not interested in it anymore.
I have got a massive backlog so I simply can't wait for a new release. I think I need like 10 years without a game release to catch up.

I always hated playing as the Zerg. I'm not sure why, if it was the levels or something about the zerg themselves but I nevergot through the Zerg campaing in the original Starcraft other than by cheating, because I simply hated playing it. I didn't even get Heart of the Storm. I liked Wings of Liberty fine, but it didn't wow me, and after playing it I felt like I'm "done" with Starcraft. Maybe if the Protoss were next I'd pick it up, but I definately didn't feel motivated enough to buy and play a game with nothing but the Zerg :P
The Zerg were great, I really liked them (Protoss were also cool...liked Terrans the least), the common Zergling, the agile Mutalisk and the devious lurker will always have a place in my heart. I'm not sure I liked how they became semi-good in SC2 though...and that was totally unoriginal after what had happened to the Orcs in WC3 (but then SC2 had a lot of similarities with WC3, right down to the nonsense about prophecies, felt recycled...Blizzard seems to have lost much of its creativity).

Camelot Unchained.
Being a huge fan of pvp, I'm hoping this turns out as promising as it sounds. Their server/netcode already seems promising.

Having spent most of my time in WvWs in gw2 & that being messy, Camelot Unchained is most likely my last hope for a decent MMO/pvp game.
2017 release if rumours are to be believed.

Lineage Eternal.
This would've been out already, but they did something weird. They added mobile phone playability to the game :/

You can either play on pc or on phone & swipes (with mouse or finger) can aid in casting spells etc.

Aside from that oddity, I'm still hoping the game does finally get released.

UnrealQuakie: I kickstarted DriftStage a sick looking car game that you drift throughout the hole race and it was said to be released at the end of 2016. but the game is still in alpha as of now and looks like it will be released in 2021 by the looks of how things are going... Prob wont even play the game when it comes out :/

Well now I know just kickstart playing card decks for poker and stuff as that seems to be the safest thing to drop money on.

DaCostaBR: Have you ever heard of Absolute Drift?

It has a top down view instead of behind the car like DriftStage, but it's very drift focused as well, as you may guess from the title. It could interest you while you're waiting for DriftStage.
Looking into this, So far it looks real cool and will give it a shot. thanks for the link
Crawl. Dwarf Fortress has made more progress than Crawl at this rate.

Breath of the Wild, I'm more curious than anticipating; I have a feeling that Nintendo will have botched their first major attempt at a sandbox open world game. They made the game world huge, but for what reason? They couldn't squeeze enough content into Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess.

DProject: Cuphead. Originally it was supposed to come out in 2015, first footage of actual gameplay was released in 2016, current release date is who knows when.
People complained that it was just a boss rush so they decided to put platforming levels in it. That must be almost a full game's worth of work.

Last I saw of it I don't think the platforming was looking all that great, that must be why they're taking so long trying to tweak it.

I stopped after several turned into vaporware and/or sucked donkey cojones.

DaCostaBR: Sometimes we hear about a game that really impresses us a bit too early in development and it takes forever until you can actually play it.

Tyrrhia: Thank you for reminding me of Cube World! I hadn’t checked its situation in a long while. Nothing really new, though. Oh, well . . . maybe next time! ^_^
You had to go and open THAT wound didn't you... :/

I know what you mean, that is my one complaint about the actual levels of WoL as well. I love how varied and challenging the levels are, but I would've liked a few more levels where I could just sit back and build a big force at my leisure. So it really excites me to hear that HotS has more levels like that.

Probably there are a few terran/protoss levels mixed into the campaign, just like there are about 4 protoss levels mixed into WoL's campaign.
But yes, I'm not a huge Zerg fan either, though I like them more than the Protoss. It really bugs me in an RTS when I have units that can't be healed in any way. Which was a nice tactic to use with the Zerg when playing against protoss. Using the defiler's plague ability you can, in effect, permanently halve any protoss unit/structure's health. Ie full shields but only 1 hp.

But overall this is one reason I like Warcraft more. I love playing each of the 4 factions.

Protoss were my favourites, and I always regretted their campaigns came last. Though, to be fair, I liked them so much not for gamplay reasons (I never really learned to play them well), but just because they seemed the coolest and most unique and interesting to me.
