Yesterday i was on a nostalgia trip listening to old megadrive (genesis) music and i got to a track that i never actually heard in game, the (good) ending music of The Revenge of Shinobi.

Why is that? Well, before the final boss there's this confusing maze where you basically get lost due to the "magical" doors and the lack of a map and considering that there wasn't any save system back then i would have to eventually give up and start all over again.
So, after all this years, here's this game that i never actually finished and sometimes i wonder if i should give it another try just to say that i beat the game.

Does anyone else have a similar story to share? Mind you that i'm not interested in games that you quit because it was bad, for that you already have the games quit in 2015/2016, it's about games that you liked but were never able to finish, and please, don't just drop the name of the game and leave, at least say why you never finished the game.

How would I go about posting a pic of my entire library? :P
i cant very wel list the titles of 700 games i have never started or only half finished
My favorite game that I never finished is BG2. I started it 10+ times, have lots of saves (usually soloing), but never actually finished it because I never want to leave for Spellhold... I have no idea why :D. Probably because I don't want to loose the Thieves Guild and if you don't pay Renal for more than 3 weeks, you'd do that...
Hmmm...

Final Fantasy VIII. I reached the final dungeon, found it a maze/got fed up with it/insert pointless or not reason here and gave it up. I still have the discs, but I have lost the save and, thus, would have to replay it all the way from the start (and I hate the magic system, so it's very unlikely I'll do so, but you never know). Of course, while I didn't consider the game bad 15 years ago, I might have a different opinion nowadays, so you could disregard this entry till I remember a better one.

The same thing happened with Final Fantasy VII, but in this case, I ended up restarting the game years later and actually completing it.

Is Skyrim too new to add here? I loved the game, it was awesome with the exploring and the sneaking and the fighting and the questing and the dragon killing and all that. Forgive me as I'm not very good with the lore of TES or character names but at one point I realized I was god mode and the joy of the game changed for me. I went into that High Elf fortress to rescue the brother of someone from Whiterun and it was no challenge. I remember before going in there I was genuinely worried and after a couple kills started to wonder when it would get hard. Even before I got out I was sure there was going to be that one impossibly hard encounter and it never happened. Then I realized how easily I had been killing dragons of all types and continued to do so and then one day I stopped loading the game. It was right before I was to begin the civil war quests after visiting Solitude (?), (the Empire stronghold).
I do plan to get back into that game one day once I can play the dlc's and find some mods that make the gameplay more challenging but until then Skrim is the one game I'm not happy I wasn't able to finish.
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

When I first played it on N64 I think I found it too hard, never made it past the water dungeon. I rebought it a few years back on the Wii Virtual console and lost interest before I could finish it (can't remember why now, could have been a combination of a lack of time and a new game came out that I wanted to play)
Will probably rebuy the 3DS remake at some point and hope to finally complete the damn game..

There are many, many more but that's the stand out one that I regret not completing.
Wizardry 8. I find the game incredibly fun to play, but sometimes, after reaching a high enough level, it feels like my characters are done growing. I have explored Ascension Peak, the final area of the game, however.

I have actually never beaten the game, though I did get far enough to make peace between the Umpani and T'Rang (which means getting at least 2 of the artifacts), and to convince myself that, if 2 of the artifacts are placed in the Rapax Away Camp, the game becomes unwinnable. (I didn't actually save after doing so, of course.)

I currently have a save with a level 11 party.
Some notables:

- Morrowind
- Gothic 2
- Mount and Blade: Warband, though does an open-end game have an ending?
- Blitzkrieg 1 and 2. 1 is flipping out (haven't tried a particular fix yet) and 2 pissed me off on one mission.
- Stalker SoC. Can't make it through to the Chernobyl NPP building. Will try again with some mods and a restart.
- Freelancer, which I started about 6 months back. Need to go back a few saves.

Well, if we're only talking about games that I never finished and that I enjoyed right up to the point where I finished playing I can think of 3 examples.

Diablo 2
I don't count it finished because I didn't defeat Baal on Hell difficulty. In fact I got stuck on Act I, on Hell difficulty with my lvl71 barbarian. Things were going well right and up to the point I encountered a unique monster in a cave that had both the stone skin and ghostly modifier, and there I was without any magic attacks. 100 hits later and I could see a glimmer of movement in his health bar :P I thought that perhaps I could go and get one of those henchmen in Act 3 on nightmare difficulty and then level him up so that he could help me on the magic damage front, but that just seemed like way too much effort, so I gave up :P

Syndicate Wars
I've made several attempts at beating this game, and each time it's an absolutely blast! The intense cyberpunk atmosphere is what lures me back each time. However, after my last attempt to complete the game I think I've given up for good. The 2nd to last level is on some sort of space station, and any explosion of any kind causes the immediate destruction of the entire station. Now normally this wouldn't be problem except that in this level every single enemy carries a bomb, which he drops upon death. You then only have a couple of seconds to pick up the bomb, which disarms it. This isn't a problem normally, and you get to collect bombs dropped like that several times in the campaign. However, for some other inexplicable reason, your agents simply refuse to pick up the bomb 50% of the time in this level, even with open inventory space. I think that the strain the complex space station puts on the game engine might have something to with it. I've managed to successfully kill a maximum of 3 enemies on the level, that is, I've managed to pick up the dropped bomb a maximum of 3 times in a row, by frantically ordering each agent to pick it up until one decides to comply. With something like 10 enemies on the level, and many failed attempts, I gave up.

Prince of Persia 2
Apart from the later Keen games, this is the only DOS era platformer that I still really want to complete, as it's my favorite of the lot. I've gotten really far as well, but each time the game bugs out and crashes on me. There seems to something funky with that final tower in the game. There's this one point where you're supposed to press left,right,left,right,... repeatedly to separate yourself from your spirit/shadow or something like that, and In could never get past that bit without the game crashing.
Homeworld:
Toward about the 60% point the battles became a clickfest with multitudes of enemy ships.
Got tired of that silliness.
Did enjoy it for the time I played.
May take another look, if and when GOG decides to include it in the catalog.
System Shock 2:
Long time ago.
If I remember correctly, there was something about chemicals that you had to collect and do something with. Became a bit complicated for my pea sized brain, so I just left it.
May go back and try it again.
Combat Flight Sim2 and Unreal Tournament:
Disconnected and picked the machine up to bring it out to the garage to blow it out.
Dropped it!
End of game.
