South Park (the TV series and movie; the only licensed game I've ever played was the first-person shooter from the 90's, and I don't recall for certain if there were any bleeps in that) is a good non-game example. Originally, they put in bleeps to suggest swear words that may or may not have ever actually been recorded. Later on, as the rules for what had to be censored on cable slackened somewhat, the show started to actually have an "explicit" version...which was less funny, since you didn't have to guess what was being said. Not exactly the sort of thing being asked about, though, I'd say.

Darvond: One also cannot forget Nowi, the problematic dragon.
That's actually unfair; the series has numerous recurring character types, with slow-aging dragons going back all the way to the very first entry. Tiki, Fae, Myrrh—you get the idea. The only difference between Awakening and several other entries is the intersection between that archetype and the well-intentioned dating mechanic (which was an idea they took from 1996's Seisen no Keifu because they expected Awakening to be the last game in the series and wanted to pay homage to its predecessors). It's not like they pulled the young-looking-but-actually-ancient card out of nowhere solely to justify Nowi, so "problematic" is a stretch. Myopic/culturally blind might be more accurate.

tinyE: That's what I love about GOG, I never have to worry about that sort of thing here. They don't censor.

No matter what I type, they won't █████ it and won't ████ my ███████ of ██████.

It's ████ ██ ████ that some ██████ ███ ████ed here and I ████ to post ████████ I want. :D
Crap, your post had me scared for a second, just woke up and I thought something's wrong with my eyes. :P
See attachment for my list of games that I consider to be improved by censorship:

The old Contra games come to mind. In Europe they were called Probotector with different skins for the protagonists and some enemies.

Here is a video that explains it:

I`ve always thought the robots looked way cooler than the wannabe Schwarzenegger skins.

Interesting perspective. I think you're an outlier, but I can see why. It also makes things a bit more clean, even if you are gunning down people/robots who sold out to aliens.
Does Hatred count? From what I've read, the attempted censorship is the only thing that gave that game value, and I can appreciate games that exploit the industry like that.
