0Grapher: People can create GOGmixes for that sort of thing.
avatar
phaolo: Woops lol, I meant gogmix, not gogwiki XD

Btw, how do you browse them from the site menus?
You can't, except from the game pages. You can't even find a list of the mixes you've created yourself as GOG so nicely removed that page from the profile.

darthspudius: Well that there is your own fault lol. I have been avoiding tension on that area all week. I'm now seeing the benefits.
Dude, I continued to work to avoid being fired... also, I didn't know that the computer could cause such harm to hands.
Btw.. did your problem last.. only 1 week? We're on complete different leagues :\

Oh computers is absolutely deadly to your hands and wrists. My problem comes from gaming, computer use and drumming going back 10+ years. But I couldn't get the doctor to even check it, unless I started spamming appointments this past 3 months lol.

Since I started taking treatment it is already healing up after a week. Sounds like you need a better job or other ways to use a computer. :(
being supposedly disabled didn't stop some idiots from buying witcher 3 anyway

wolfsrain: The SSI General series, Age of Wonders series, Disciples series, Crusader Kings series, Europa Universalis series, Hearts of Iron series, the Might and magic RPG's (they are turn-based or have the option for it), Endless (Legends and Space), Civilization series. Those should definitely be fine for you.

You could also try some city builders (Sim City 4 and Tropico series should be manageable for you, so you might want give it a try with those first and go for the Caesar/Pharaoh/Zeus series afterwards).

Also, Panzer Corps and Order of Battle, the Jagged Alliance games. Democracy games, Big Pharma, Game Dev Tycoon are other games that you should manage fine and have a bit of fun with it.

I have really bad reflexes, so my preferences are for games that don't require those. I can manage reflex games, just not at an competitive level (the lightning speed required for online gaming). So i lean heavily towards games that have a slower pacing.

You could give a try to the Knights of the Old Republic and see if you can manage. Check it to a friend's home (one that owns the game), so you won't spend the money on something that you won't be able to play (not sure if you can still find a demo). Dragon Age and Mass Effect are probably out, as they do require some extra management in combat.

Also you should have no troubles in playing old point and click adventure games (Broken Sword series, Syberia series, Space Quest and so on)

Quite a lot more games in the link provided by licurg, but you should check demos (where available) or some youtbube vids too see if the gameplay is suited for you.
Thank you very much for the list. I've got AoW 1,2 and ShadowMagic, but forgot to list them. I never heard of Knight of the Old Republic, so I'll look at that one :)

Are you attacking the OP? O_o
Games that you would think were unplayable by disabled people are actually being played by some people with extremely crippling handicaps:

This guy can only move his head and plays Starcraft competitively:

edit: He has a Twitch channel in case you want to support:

And this guy is a quadriplegic without finger function and he plays FPS games using his knuckles:

While not specifically tested for disabled gamers you can filter for turn-based: http://www.gog.com/games##search=Turn-based&sort=bestselling&page=1

Maybe this helps a bit until another solution can get implemented.

no, but there was some witcher 3 topic complaining about how it was discriminating against disabled people or some bullshit.

Luned: Also, none of the Spiderweb Games (Geneforge series, Avernum series, etc.) have timed sequences AFAIK. All turn-based.
avatar
dtgreene: Actually, the Geneforge and Avadon series are only turn-based during battle. When you are just exploring, the game (and this includes the movements of enemies) runs in real time. (Geneforge at least lets you start combat anytime, however, even if there are no enemies around.)

VVVVVV can apparently be played one handed. There are only three controls you regularly need: move left, move right, and flip. Anything else you need to do never needs to be done in dangerous situations or under time pressure. Also, that game has accessibility options that let you slow down the game, make yourself invincible, and disable the moving backgrounds.
Kingdom can also be played one handed as all you really use are the 4 arrow keys on your keyboard :)

I believe that Sword of the Stars: The Pit can also be played one-handed as I remember playing that game with my left hand while drinking coffee with the other and since it's turn-based having to reach for a slightly out of the way key is not a problem :) You might have to reconfigure some keys for some abilities and targeting but once you're done, you're golden :)

Practically all point & click adventures are playable with one hand, even with only one finger. Some adventures have timed puzzles or reflex-based mini games but it's usually no problem to pull off with one hand (trackpad plus one or two buttons)

But hands aren't the only factor. Spacechem and Sokobond can only be played by left-brained people. I gave up on Spacechem (probably not enough left brain available) and am struggling with the last 3 levels of Sokobond.

Kotor has real time combat with pause (like Baldur's Gate and NWN). Problem is, it has also some unskippable minigames (racing and FPS sessions) which are fairly hard, and that might be an issue.

I wouldn't recommend Mass Effect either, it has alot of time-limited hacking minigames (they are not mandatory, but they are very common) and combat itself requires good aim and fast reflexes.

With Dragon Age: Origins you should be fine though, I don't remember minigames and QTE in that one. :)
I support the request for such store category where should be listed and described if the game has some features for disabled gamers (accessibility options), i.e. as VVVVVV does. In that game one can remove the animated backgrounds, to reduce significantly the speed and even to has immortality (invincibility) for a complete casual or even relaxing play.
I totally recommend it, as per may review on the 2nd page, to anyone because is just so cute :)

I don't know about diabled gamers but this game might be good for diablerized gamers

anyway diabled gamer sounds like a deviled egg :D
I may have read the thread too fast, but I didn't see Legend of Grimlock mentioned. I can't speak for LoG 2 (haven't played it) but if I recall, the developer added directional arrows that you can click with a mouse. This was done (by request) for a person who had a disabled (or missing - can't remember the details) hand.
