My 2 most aggravating parts of Splinter Cell:

1. There's a set of stairs in the CIA mission with a guard at the top that has the shortest patrol ever. If your timing isn't exactly perfect, you'll end up reloading many times until you get it just right.

2. In the sewer in Burma, there's a patrol of 3 or 4 Chinese soldiers. You have to take them out using a non-lethal method QUICKLY and as close to simultaneously as possible or you're dead. Frustrating.

Other than that, fun game. Just make sure to save a lot.

turbosnake: Life is Strange

It is an okay game, but the decisions you have made previously arent important anymore.
In the end it is one real decision after this you will get one of the two endings.
Neither of them answers your questions.

Theoclymenus: I will be both pleased and annoyed if the other Splinter Cell games appear on GOG at some point..
I'll be mostly pleased! I hope we'll see the rest of the games sooner rather than later and I also hope that the release of the first SC on GOG, wasn't just a way for Ubisoft to eventually make us buy the rest on Uplay. Not that there is even a slightest possibility for that on my part. ;)

TARFU: Other than that, fun game. Just make sure to save a lot.
Saving a lot screwed my progress at least two times so I had to restart the level again. So, if I may add to the advice; make sure you'll save a lot and use many save slots. (I've been using the regular save only at the start of each mission and quicksave every 10 meters and this practice screwed me so it's best if there are a couple of regular saves in each mission too)

Ah, I guess I just don't care where the powers came from. As giving an explanation would surely ruin it.
I'm not sure what you mean by ".So we get in after this hole thing, why this is different now?".

This is bad english from me. Must be wohle and not hole.
I think the beginning of this time change and so on is before the point we get in and just do nothing.
And now nothing happens and all goes the "real" way.

Ah, pretty much.
spoilers: Seems like the only reason the tornado and other disasters happened because she kept screwing with time.
Returning to the bathroom restored everything to it's proper place.
Brink of Consciousness: Dorian Gray Syndrome (HOG from _Slaugh_'s GA)

Main Story:

Creepy tale, with good puzzles and environments. End is setting up to be a nice surprise twist and then (spoiler alert) twists again to something a bit more cliche. Quite enjoyed it aside from 1-2 puzzles that were frustrating.

Grade: B+/A-

Bonus Chapter:

Dull and/or frustrating. The chapter can be played through in under an hour, so it's not like a lifetime wasted, but whereas a number of other HOGs have done something interesting with the bonus chapter even when reusing altered environments from the original game, this one picks an entirely different setting but everything about it felt inferior to the original. Eminently skippable - write your own ending and it will be better than what they actually put in this bonus chapter.

Grade: D

I thought it was a great game, but I agree with you that the endings are a bit of a letdown because they feel rushed and not properly thought through, there's so much that doesn't really add up, so many loose threads, so once you start thinking about it, it's not a satisfying conclusion. But we probably shouldn't talk about this here in this thread, not even with spoiler tags. This game is so easy to spoil and you can easily read one word too much, even by just skimming over a post. ;)
Today I finished Eschalon: Book III and thus closed the Druid Stalios Chapters (my character's name in Book I was Stalios and in Book II and III Stalios II, son of Stalios). GOG counter says I spent more than 52h in game, nice. I was kind of worried when I saw initial reviews of people finishing it in 10-12h...they must have just run through it without enjoying the exploration. Anyways, Book II is definitely the best in the series and we (fans of the series) did expect more but to say Book III is bad would be a lie so warmest of recommendation for this series to all RPG lovers out there.

Lucius 2.

Very buggy game with some childish content thrown in just to try and get a reaction from it. The first game was much more creative and entertaining. Not only did opening up the game to a more open options environment add a ton of bugs and quality issues, it felt like you had fewer options after all.

The one positive note is that the devs appear to be active and have released several patches. Kudos for that, but the game still needs a fair amount of work overall. The "rails" weren't really removed, they were just hidden. After a level or two it all starts to feel familiar.

To finish it off, the voice work was pretty bad (absolutely terrible in places), the story was oddly put together by what appeared to be hastily hand drawn images as cut scenes, and rather than end the game, they leave you on a bus with the text, The game is over written on the floor. Given the rest of the game, I half way believe they simply didn't know how to roll the credits and pull your character out of the level, so they added the text in.
Guild of Dungeoneering: Pirate's Cove

I liked the base game a lot so I decided to get the DLC as well since it was on sale, and replay the whole game. I've read that many people have been really upset for the fact that, instead of continuing the story after it's been finished, the DLC actually adds content to the early parts of the game. I didn't mind because, like I said, it was my intention the whole time to replay the entire game, but I can very well understand why some got upset over it. So basically, the DLC adds new loot, new enemies, new quests and three new classes. However, since two of the classes are Tier 1 and one is Tier 2 (I believe), there isn't really any point to continue using any of them after the jungle levels. Therefor, once you've finished the new levels (and jungle), there isn't any lasting effect from the DLC additions, except for the loot (which is pretty good, though). I think at least one class should've been useful enough to last for the remainder of the game, so it's definitely a flaw in my opinion.

Anyway, if you liked the base game, the DLC adds some more content for you to enjoy. But only get it if you don't mind replaying the whole game, otherwise I don't see the point.

My favorite RPG series since the first Fallout games, i like the slightly deeper mechanics of the Eschalon games over the Spiderweb games such as Avernum. I agree that the third game was still pretty good, just the way i like RPG's to work...just methodically explore and talk to everyone until you've covered the entire world and the plot will just all fall together.

I didn't capture my final score page, but just looking at the stats of my last save not far from the end (with Buggalugs the Enchanter), and my game took 28 hours, but i didn''t quite do all the secrets and i didn't play for any challenges, plus i hated the weapon wear mechanic so turned it off which speeds up the game a lot without all the backtracking to fix equipment. Also i played a full magic focused character. I hope the devs do a new series sometime.

The Last of Us (PS4)

Gamings longest escort and protection quest. That pretty much sums it up. I hate escort quests. It's sort of like a movie and the PS4 was hooked up to the projector...so i played it on the big 2.5m screen and it looked awesome.

What the game does well is set a great mood and feeling of desperation within the world and story that Naughty Dog created. The game is definately at it's best during the quiet exploration segments, where it is moody and does quite powerful story telling. The post apocalypse world sort of feels a bit like the infected scenario of 28 Days Later, but taken further. Unfortunately i think the world has a few "holes" and things that don't make a lot of sense. Like there's plenty of space and it's really just humanity that is decimated....the ground is fertile and not contaminated and there's plenty of space for the survivors, no overcrowding. Yet everyone seems to feel the need to slaughter each other because food is short...but why? Did they forget how to grow vegetables? But no, everyone just feels the need to automatically kill each other for seemingly no reason.

The locations and maps were quite linear but well done and suited the games world and story extremely well. I especially like the University Chapter of the game.

The gameplay is often poor. The enemies focus on the player almost to a point of being ridiculous. When a wave of enemies spring, i could hide off in a corner and the enemies will run straight past other characters that shoot at them, and go straight for me because that's what the devs wanted.
Quite often i'd be hiding and Ellie couldn't make up her mind where to hide and would just pogo back and forth from spot to spot, often right into the path of enemies...who would ignore her and go for me- when i'm hidden.
Then the friendly AI had this amazing habit of always getting in my way. The number of times i wanted shoot Ellie myself because she was in the way. Sometimes the AI characters would even get themselves stuck in a doorway so that i couldn't get through.

Combat...Naughty Dog have tweaked the combat that actually worked okay for the high action movie style Uncharted games, and then pretty much screwed it up for this game. I hated the combat. Once again the enemies just magically know where you are so often when they shouldn't. And sometimes you can shoot people point blank in the head and they hardly flinch. And they take like 3 arrows and 3 pistol shots and they're still running around FFS. In a game that is meant to be portraying realism...it doesn't stand up.
Enemies come in waves and are so blatantly scripted that you soon learn to exploit it.

Puzzles? Okay for an example (SPOILER): the first time you come across water that Ellie can't walk across...oh look there's a wooden pallet i can push her on. Okay, that was clever. Next time we come across water...oh look there's a wooden pallet i can push her on. Third time we come across water...oh look there's a wooden pallet i can push her on. Forth time...oh look there's a wooden pallet i can push her on, this time it was around the corner and i had to look for it though. Fifth time...water...fuck, there's no pallet WTF do i do this time? Oh no wait....there it is, it was hidden under water and had to be pushed up.
The puzzles are just as repetitive as the combat. Need to get up to a high ledge? Same solution every time. Need to cross a gap? Same solution every time.

Crafting? Find random junk and double the magazine capacity on your shotgun! I was in the military and even our armory guys couldn't do that shit. Once again, the game is wanting to portray a feeling of realism which is why i am critical of this. Other games have way more ridiculous crafting but don't pretend to be anything other than fantasy.

Okay, it wasn't a terrible game and was not a waste of time. But for me this is not the perfect 10/10 game that i kept hearing about. I think it's only average. For an escort quest game, i actually liked Enslaved: Odyssey to the West better.

Demon Hunter: Chronicles from Beyond (Android)

The worst of the HOGs I've played yet. Shorter and even more random than the other ones. Doesn't look as professional either imho. Still a nice game for playing in bed when you can't sleep.
I've had enough of those HOGs for now, but will finish the bundle later this year, I guess.
