kalirion: Ittle Dew

Fun & funny little block sliding puzzle game with Zelda style combat (the focus is far more on the puzzles, except for the last boss fight.)

Apparently it's possible to get the various items in different order, and to only use any 2 out of 3 to get to beat the game. That's ... above my paygrade.

Austrobogulator: Did you try the puzzle dungeon? That thing has some crazy puzzles.
I saw an achievement for the Master Dungeon or whatever, never saw that place. Did finish the Crypt dungeon.
Just finished Mass Effect (part 1) for 20 hours.
I like these SF atmosphere and FPS+RPG hybrid system, which was a lot of fun.
In the next, I will play Dragon Age: Origins.

My list
Knytt Underground

I'm amazed how long this game was in the end, the map is huge.
I've got every room, every item, complete ending, the sandwich recipe and finished all of the hidden "dungeons" in the upper middle of the menu.

After I only knew Knytt and NightSky from Nicklas Nygren, I was surprised that you are able to die so often in this game, but the best thing about this one is, that it casually quicksaves practically everywhere you could die and sets you back instantly, so the frustration level is never too high, even at moments where you need quite some skill.

What I really missed as so often was button mapping for a controller, at the current moment in time, I fear it's another case of Microsoft controller support only, without QJoyPad, I wouldn't have as much fun with this game, which is a shame. You really need a controller for games like this.

Another point I think is annoying is the overly obvious misandric sexism in this game which seems to fit todays current.
The main character and her two companions are female and nearly every guy in the game is useless, dumb or an egotistic liar, ok...
one of her companions is a lesbian, ok but
the other one was untruthful in the past and still the guy he cheated on was "the asshole" in the lesbians opinion, ok...
and of course in one of the bonus dungeons, the lesbian which acutally did nothing rants about how other stories only include male power, blablabla.
This really was too much for me.
Maybe he thinks, that mostly women will play this game because it isn't primarily about winning and isn't won by violence but by exploring, agility and being nice to people, but the majority of his customers will still be men and although many of those today seem to be trained/brain-washed to be self-hating feminists, some surely would prefer a bit more equality here and there instead of just reversing this stuff.

Nonetheless, it was a really good exploration puzzle platformer.

not quite there yet; Galactic Civilizations 2 Ultimate Edition (base game) 1st time completion is at hand.
But through techs, and I'm not sure if I want that. Maybe I should wage another war, just for the hell of it,
before I finish :) Been 1st on the Most Powerful Civ list for a long time now. So I think my strategy was good enough.
Hm.
Edit: Whoopiee, finished! (Normal, biggest galaxy size)
Freakin' tech win but dunno this game just ate so much of my time, was afraid to start another war. Especially when another civ was growing very big, destroying minor races and major races.

Moebius.

Mixed opinions. Finished 5 short of a perfect score but I didn't get credit for anything after the final cutscene. After checking a few walkthroughs I should have gotten credit for completing the game and for clicking a pig.

The game ended abruptly with no chance to view my score or get any feedback on performance. To be fair, I'm not sure you could have progressed very far without getting a near perfect score as this game was very linear with progression blocks everywhere if you didn't have everything you needed.

The animation was very bad. Blocky, jumpy, forced, and lots of transition scenes to bypass it altogether. Music was ok but repetitive. As an adventure game, its recommendable, but it won't be anything you want to talk about with your friends afterwards.

It committed two adventure game sins. 1. Allowing me to interact with items that I can't take until the game tells me I can take them (usually from far away from the item), and 2... mazes.

Another year of polish and we may have had something very cool. As it is, its ok. Doubtful I'll play it again. But I don't regret backing it at the tier that also gets me the GK remake.
Finished the incredible adventures of Van Helsing

Really cute ARPG.Has nice plot,I loved the interaction between Van Helsing and Katarina and the plot elements.
Fun to play, could used some better balancing with the skills and characters.Didn't like the high level playing after
the end of the story with the endless stroy and scenarios.Recomended for a few hours of play.
Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten - This is a wonderful tower defense game, primarily because it has persistent units and some RPG-lite elements, that give the game continuity between each stage. Being able to use active abilities is also nice, it lets the player take a more active role than just placing the members of your party and boosting them every so often. It takes careful placement to beat each stage, and you can quickly be overrun if you're not paying attention. You often have to replay past stages, to gain scrap, at higher levels but it's enjoyable every second. The writing is nothing amazing, but well done, with some humor.

Anomaly: Warzone Earth - I can't say that I truly enjoyed this game, as a "reverse tower defense" game, it's more like an AI escort mission for the whole game. You don't exercise much control over your units, other than directing them which path to take and deploying distractions, smoke, health or airstrikes. You constantly outgunned until the last couple of missions, which always seems silly to me. An alien invasion that threatens the entire world, and the military command will only provide so many funds. This game reminded me of the Crysis games, not entirely sure why, possibly the alien machine designs. Overall, it's an okay game for a couple of hours, which is about how long it took to finish.

So far:
Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat
Alien Shooter + Expansions
Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death
Waking Mars
Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition
Splinter Cell
Mirror's Edge
Sid Meier's Ace Patrol
Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut
Metro: Last Light
Sid Meier's Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies
Sniper Elite V2
Sleeping Dogs
Another World
Serious Sam: The First Encounter
Shelter
Limbo
Alien Shooter 2: Reloaded
MANOS: The Hands of Fate
TRAUMA
Red Faction
Chaser
Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten
Anomaly: Warzone Earth
Power-Up

Finally managed to beat this one on Easy! It takes about 35-40 minutes to beat the game from start to finish, but this accomplishment took me about 4-5 hours. Lost 6/10 lives in the process, so Normal difficulty, which only gives 6 lives total (and #lives is the only difference between difficulties as far as I can tell), is still a bit out of my range.

Though it's a pretty good sh'mup, with a nice "last human survivor out for vengeance" story, I don't think I'll keep banging on it at the higher difficulties. It's just a bit too hard for me.
Completed Snapshot. This little puzzle platformer isn't really so little - seems like I got around thirty hours or so to get 100 percent of the medals. Shouldn't be attempted with a controller as despite all appearances, a mouse is pretty much required to play this game with any degree of skill, and to avoid ragequitting on the tougher stages. It's really a pretty great game with an interesting and unique mechanic and tight controls if using kb + m. On the negative side, the game has some nasty bugs that really shouldn't be there considering how easy they are to replicate - vsync is pretty much broken, so there's lots of screen tearing, replaying stages frequently crashes the game, having a clone in your inventory crashes the game upon exiting a stage, etc. The ending consists of storyboards written in such small type (at least on ordinary desktop resolutions) that I almost went blind trying to read them, which is a really poor way to reward the player for finishing the game. But all that aside, a fine effort and I'm glad I picked it up.
Evoland has a cute gimmick but the game is just in too much of a hurry to show off its ideas. Within the first 10 minutes or so, you've already gone from a Gameboy-style game to a 16-bit RPG (nevermind that this isn't really how console RPGs evolved), and it's not long after that that the game builds all the way to a post-16-bit Final Fantasy style, and you're never seriously challenged to unlock this stuff. The game just hands everything to you. So it's very easy and can be handily beaten in just a few hours. It's amusing but I'm glad I only got it cheaply as part of a bundle. More of a formal exercise of some kind on the developer's part rather than a fully developed game.

I think I saw that they're making an Evoland 2, so hopefully that one will fulfill the concept's potential better.
Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut

One of the better RPGs of the current year just got even more better. The additions weren't anything major, but good nonetheless. New missions and some new gear - and all for free since I already owned the regular version of the game. I'm not sure if the character-specific missions (mainly Eiger and Glory) were included in the regular version and if I simply missed them on my first playthrough, but whichever the case, I played through them now and loved them. Also, since the game has a couple of branching paths during the late game, it was nice to see what consequences a different choice would have, which also justified this new playthrough. I said it then but I'll say it again: get this game if you're a fan of turn-based RPGs. The writing is very immersive and well done, and the atmosphere and setting are just incredible. Marvellous game.
Need For Speed: Rivals (PC).
Just finished the Campaign as a Racer.

Added it to my 2014 List:

Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea, Episodes 1 and 2. Excellent additions to the already excellent base game. Episode 1 is quite short, and seems to mostly be a setup for the events of Episode 2, which is at least twice as long. That is for the better, I think, because Episode 2 is a nice treat. Playing as Elizabeth shifts the focus to stealth. She isn't as durable as Booker, and thus will die from only a few hits. Her development as a character is touching to watch, helped all the more by Courtnee Draper's incredible performance.
None

Which is strange, because I've started alot of games this year. I just don't have the time to see them through to the end.
09-11-14 - Double Dragon Trilogy (droid)
Not really an achievement to beat any of these. Still worth mentioning since i beat it on my N7. Decent enough port, maybe tad buggy

09-20-14 - Rochard
Solid puzzle/platformer with cheesy story and way too easy puzzles. Didn't even have to stop and think for a single one. Tried also little bit of the DLC puzzles. Way more challenging, but did not get too far. Well actually about half way. No real incentive to go through the levels and exercise more of the finger gymnastic, which this game heavily requires. All and all good game.

10-06-14 - Among the Sleep
I was Kickstarter backer for this and was rooting the guys to do well, especially them being fellow Norwegians. Got around playing this only now. For two reasons, lack of time and the theme. Of course I knew what the theme was and knew that there was no harm happening for the child. Just kept thinking about my own daughter who is just about the same age. Well just decided to go for it and it was not bad at all, well except for one thing. Anyway, this game reminded me of Gone Home even though there is much more action and more to see here. Pleased with the game and my pledge. After seeing this and The Fly game they did, will be interesting to see what they come up with next. And yeah would back them again.
