There will be spoilers in this discussion so read with caution or avoid this thread all together. But for people that has been watching the whole season so far. This season imo should be dubbed "The season for the fans" because my goodness I see too many fan theories that has happened and will happen:

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

Jon Snow comes back to life and by Melisandre's hand.

Sandor "The Hound" Clegane lives thus Cleganebowl is confirmed.

Bran's powers to visit to the past could reveal that R+L does = J.

Benjin Stark lives and he came off as a Coldhands like figure.

Hodor's reason for his name is revealed that he is actually saying "Hold the Door" because he was barring a door from White Walkers to by bran and his friend time to escape. So Hodor was forshadowing his own death the whole tim he utters "Hodor".

If this guy's theory is to be believed and Arya is now mortally wounded she may end up finding her Dire Wolf and thus Warg into her permanantly thus fully possessing the Wolf and will then live her life as a Wolf with a Pack/Family and thus she is content.....If that happens.

And Roose Bolton dies by the hands of his fucking psychopathic prick of a son.

And ast least in the TV show White Walkers were actually created by the children of the forest by turning the original humans that became White Walkers by use of a Magical Rituals and Dragonglass.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILERS

Man I feel they really want to get this series to its end sooner rather then later.

I can't wait for it to end. That wonderful moment, when I will be able to look at Den of Geek or Bleeding Cool and other sites like that, and not see any more news about it. When there will be no more ads for it. No more memes about it. When this inescable shit will just finally...end.

As do I but in my case I just think this series and books will be at its best at the end of it if all the events pay off.

Dany and her Dragons finally arriving in Westeros.

Cersei getting her comeuppance.

The Others finally reaching the South.

Etc. Etc. Etc.
Fantastic season so far (can't believe it's already nearing the end!). I was super nervous after the slight letdown that was last season. Still not doing as solid a job of developing characters as early on, but the plot pace and number of events rolling along toward major conclusions is doing a great job of keeping me interested.
Wow never thought we be this closer to the potential end of the series, next season will mostly likely be the end of conflict in Westeros amongst the Kingdoms. So anyway.

Spoiler

1. Jon and Sansa has retaken Winterfell and killed Ramsay Bolton. Jon is now King of the North regardless of his bastard heritage for they still see him a Stark through his "father" Ned.

2. Arya returns to Westeros and with her Faceless Men training manages to sneak in and kill Walder Frey.

3. Cersei pretty much kills all her enemies and opposition in King's Landing. Tommen kills himself now that he lost faith in everything pretty much and now that the "Baratheon" line is dead. Cersei, seeing that she is the only noble in the Kingdoms, pretty much crowned herself as QUEEN OF WESTEROS AND PROTECTOR OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS!!! Jaime witnesses her Crowning. But what will this mean for the 2? Will he step and join with her as king and queen? Or will their relationship finally deteriorate? I am pretty certain Jaime would not approve of Cersei's actions, especially the concequences of those actions (Tommen killing himself because of Cersei and Jaime clearly cared for him, Cersei looked like she did not care)

4. Bran arrives at the wall and then procceds to see into the past and finally witness what ever fan has theorized, Jon Snow IS NOT Ned Stark's Bastard son with some unknown woman. He is the offspring of Lyanna Stark and Rheagar Targaryan.

5. Dany finally has everything ready to begin her invasion of Westeros. With the help of Greyjoy ships, and army of Dothraki, and 3 fully grown Dragons.

Spoiler Ends
Well, Cersei finally went off her tree huh?
Question from a neophyte... I have not watched the show and could not plow through the first book without massive fantasy fatigue (I guess I just dont have it in me anymore). But the one point that did intrigue me and this seems like a good a place as any to ask, has it even been revealed who Jon Snows parents actually are?

Edit: And it appears this was already answered. Unfortunately I havent a clue who those characters are. But at least it confirms it wasnt Ned.

Lyanna is Ned's Sister. She had been "kidnaped" by Rhaegar in the backstory, but it has now been confirmed that she ran away with him and willingly had Jon.

It's funny that this comes up so often with those first "starting out" - I asked VERY similar questions (also concerning the exact state of Lyanna RE: "kidnapped" or willing lover) when I first started reading the books / watching the show. Right here on this very forum actually.

The answer I received back then was "Don't pry too much into this if you're still early in the books / show." Fun to finally have my suspicions confirmed!
This show stopped making sense for me after the Red Wedding. Same for the books.
Heres another question... As I did understand that many of the back story characters had these ambiguous backgrounds depending on the familys point of view... Did they ever explain why Ned couldnt share with his wife that it wasnt actually his kid? Again, I read only about half the first book but they seemed pretty solid and trusting with one another and it was presented as a clear sore point between them. So much so the kid was basically exiled to the Night Watch.

it ain't explained in the books (as book 6 aint released yet the lyanna reveal didnt happen yet either). But it is "understandable" from a book point perspective of view that despite trusting Catelyn Ned didn't tell her about Jon's true origins. Ned gave Lyanna his word on her deathbed that he gonna protect the kid - so he was bound by his honor to keep up his worth (and by this suffered the shame to claim Jon as his bastard). Robert Baratheon was hunting the remaining Targaryens with all he had (hence danger for the boy). Hence noone can know his origin. Now you could say well Catelyn is loyal and trustworth and can keep her mouth shut... ? so why not tell her - easy explanation - while this all might be true - Catelyn's deepest loyality is to her kids (her own kids/blood) - so ya given that she would have seen danger for her kids (for example being afraid robert finds out and then unleashes the king's anger on House Stark) she would have given up John in notime - while Ned would have honored is word (with all the consequences) to the bitter end i guess.
"Robert Baratheon was hunting the remaining Targaryens "

Got it. Once I know the family tree, makes sense. Maybe one day i will pick up this series again. Thanks all.

And also keep in mind at the time Ned initially lied to Cat, he barely knew her. This was essentially an arranged alliance in the medieval spirit, where two Houses (Stark and Tully) cemented their relationship in rebellion via marriage.

In fact, Cat was initially promised to the "real" heir to House Stark, Ned's older brother Brandon. I guess, after their relationship grew in trust and love Ned could have told her (honor aside) but sometimes I would imagine a lie like that just takes on a life of its own. But prior to that point, all Ned and Cat knew were that they were betrothed and quickly married, and then Ned leaves to go fight in Robert's war. They barely knew each other - if anything it's amazing they eventually developed the relationship they had given its start.

*after fifteen years of happy marriage*
"So, funny story about John..."
Okk, I've finished S6 too.

The season started again slowly like the fifth one (the worst), but luckly it improved a lot towards the end.
Finally, some payback happened for the good people! :D
(well.. except for Cercei and the poor Tyrells)

The plots was a bit less solid than the first seasons, though.

--

Some things that bugged me:

- how did Arya learn to use the "Many Faces"? Nobody taught it to her.
Also, did she get that power because she defeated the other disciple? The duties were all fake?
Mah..

- the Red Witch story was handled poorly.
First she did real evil magic, then "it's just tricks", but then it's real again.. WTF.
Also, she burned a lot of men alive for naught, but, after the defeat, everything was forgiven (except for one kid).

- how come the dragons became suddenly so obedient?
One was a rebel and the other two were imprisoned in a dungeon for endangering the population..

- why didn't Margery warn king Tommen that she was acting and that she had a plan?
Why didn't she let Jaime attack the fanatics?

- relatives coming out of nowere are always a bit annoying.

- John Snow is the worst general ever :P
And Daenerys a quite an uncapable ruler.
(also, how will both dragons and the savage Dothraki be able to adapt to a civilized world?)

- probably a few other things that I forgot lol
