In any case, it seems I'm alone in not liking the less than subtle steering towards the Galaxy, but if you all got used to it, I'm guessing so will I. It's just that I've got quite a few games in my library here, and doors closing to said library makes me feel uneasy. But all of our possessions here on Earth are temporary anyway, amirite?
Sorry if I stepped on any toes and happy good old gaming. Firing up Hitman Contracts, which I did manage to download in the fruitful end.
No toes stepped on here, didn't mean to give you that impression. I don't know if you've been around the forums much since/when they first introduced the Galaxy-laden installers. That was a total shit show. The way they have it set up now is much, much better and has actually backed Galaxy out of your faces a bit, IMO. As I said, it's all good as long as it stays optional.

Anyway, glad you got your game(s) DLed. Enjoy!

Luckily there are community tools to help. I would not have bought more than a few games on GOG if I would have to download and update the installers manually (or would have to use Galaxy). Have a look at LGOGDownloader or gogrepo .

Correction, GOG used to be about being old school or old school games. They rebranded in 2012, changing from Good Old Games to just GOG.com, and started to sell newer games. So according to your join date you came here after the rebrand, so I'm not sure why you are under the assumption GOG is still about being old school.

GOG was about filling a niche, they always had bigger dreams of breaking into the modern market with modern gaming. A game client like Galaxy is essential to making that a reality.

Furthermore, however you access GOG be it the website or Galaxy, offline installers are always available. They are available both on the site and via Galaxy.

Never had an issue with being able to access my games. Regardless using: https://www.gog.com/account should always work.
