This time gog galaxy can't read what game version I have installed. I'm talking here about Pillars of Eternity. I set the game into manual so I could download the second expansion a few days after official release. Then I downloaded the expansions and patches myself and installed them. The problem is that now, when I have switched back into 'install updates: automatically', Gog keeps trying to install ALL THE EXPANSIONS AND PATCHES ONCE AGAIN. Like it cannot see they are already installed!

What's even more funny, if I change the option to 'manually', it's trying to download the PREVIOUS version of the game! What is happening? I found it to be so annoying that I decided to remove PoE entirely, disconnet from the internet, install main game using already downloaded installer and then install all the expansions and patches with installers. It worked! Really! Galaxy said I had the latest version, 3.0, and didn't attempt to download anything!

Until I restarted my pc. lol.

Now it's trying to download everything again with 'install updates' option set as 'automacitally'. The thing is... it says I have 3.0 installed. What is it trying to isntall? How to stop it?

If you install a game from its installer .exe, Galaxy usually wants to download some extra files for whatever reason... but I have seen cases of bugs where (some version of) the client would either redownload the entire thing or refuse to list it as playable.

You can report Galaxy client bugs at http://mantis.gog.com/
Yes! I know WHY is it trying to download addtional, useless 7gb of data!

Patches 3.01 for the base games and expansions were released. Together it's about 17mb.

But why download 17mb patches to the game, if you can download the entire patched game?

LET'S DOWNLOAD EVERYTHIIIING!

Thank you for your suggestion! I'll think it over.

Oh, if it's patching it's because Galaxy can't (yet?) handle diffs and Unity-based games tend to have assets bundled into a few large files.
