In my previous post, Galaxy is Godawful, I said I wouldn't be back until forced.

While I wasn't forced, I foolishly thought I'd use galaxy to download and install Pillars of Eternity White March 2.

So I started Galaxy, and there was POE, said there was an update available. Great, so I click on it and off it goes. Like 6 GB or so. It finishes and off I go to play.

Nope. White March 2 isn't installed. Crap.

Back to Galaxy I go.

Maybe my update is under 'More"?

How about "Backup and Extras"? Seems reasonable as I purchased the Hero edition which included part 2 as an extra more or less.

Well, I just downloaded and installed 6 GB of something, but nothing other than the game itself is that large according to the numbers posted, everything else added together isn't 6 GB. Still don't know exactly what I installed. Nothing drm free people like more than huge unidentifiable downloads I'm sure.

Ok, well maybe my expansion is listed down here in the dlc and downloads section. Well, it might be I suppose. Unfortunately the columns cut off the last part of the descriptions so I have two options that look the same, prolly the larger one I guess? So I click on that and off it goes for another 3 GB.

Well, that appeared to do nothing, just dandy. Now we are up to 9 GB of downloads and no part 2. Maybe I should have picked the other option that looked just like the one I picked, but was smaller?

This is pretty ridiculous. By now I've definitely remembered why I didn't want to use this lovely easy installer.

So I poke around some more, and under "More/Configure" I find a section that tells me what I have installed with a check boxes.

Except it tells me I don't have the free pet and item installed - and I do.

So I click the check box next to The White March Part 2, not expecting it to do anything mind you, I mean surely this isn't how you get your expansion to install is it?

In any case, off it went again, 4.4 GB this time. Sigh.

Will it work? Who Knows. Not even sure I care anymore at this point.

I must though, since I spent the time to hunt down how to get to this forum again, which is in no way intuitive either I might add.

Sorry, guess it was 7.3 GB not 4.4, so up to 16.3

You know what the best thing about Galaxy is, yes you guessed it, it is *optional*. You can just download some installer files directly from your account via browser download, keep them fully offline, and install as you wish. And if for some reason you want to use Galaxy, then scan for installed games. Personally I no intention of ever using it, and I have had zero problems so far.

I don't use Galaxy (I don't know why you do since you hate it so much), so I can't comment on that. But how exactly is the forum hard to find? Go to the main site, click on "Community" at the top of the screen. Same as countless other sites. And if all else fails, the URL is https://www.gog.com/forum. What exactly do you want them to do to make the forum "easier" to find? Send you an email with a link to it once a week?
Pope is still Catholic, but nobody is forcing me to be.
Report your difficulties on the manta page thingy?

No other suggestion for you. Still using the unsupported-but-working-perfectly-fine Downloader.

As am i...

I could use a browser plugin of 'download-them-all', but with easy to access downloader links that do a better job, i'll stick with it for a while longer.

This is one of the (several) stupid things about Galaxy: it DLs uncompressed files. I use the DLer and WM Part 2 was under 2 GBs. I recommend waiting until Galaxy is far out of Beta before using it again.

The "DLC are installed with checkboxes, hidden under More -> Configure" was how Galaxy does things for as long as I remember. It only takes one game to figure it out - for me it was Witcher 3, and I didn't find it particularly hard too find, but I can see how it could be confusing. If you find offensive that simple checkbox starts multi-GB download I can agree there, it should show confirmation dialog, or even better, wait until you check all you want and give you button to download it all at once, instead of waiting for each item (it was pretty bad when the free 16 DLC were shown as 16 checkboxes, now they are bundled at least).

Since you already learned the confusing part, you might still want to give Galaxy a chance, especially with freshly released games. Update notifications on GOG website are unreliable, and disappear after you view the game details once. Galaxy knows what version you have and what version is available, so the update notification can be accurate, and can even reappear if you decide to downgrade. I have all updates set to manual, I don't trust Galaxy as far as to let it update stuff unsupervised, but it's nice to know if new version is available when I return to game after half a year.
