Hi,

Does Galaxy have cloud saves yet? I am starting to think it might be a better idea to buy the games on Steam for ease of use etc etc.

Thoughts?
Nope.

No, it doesn't have Cloud Saves yet. Feel free to vote for them in the Community wishlist.

It seems I voted on that already xD Is there any update on when this will happen? Also thanks for the response :D
We most definitely need this feature. For me, I would really like this feature for The Witcher series and TellTale Games. Also, I already voted a long time ago.
It seems this has been on the wishlist for ages...

Is there an actual timeline for the wishlist items? otherwise the wishlist might just be pretty useless.

It is, it tells you what users want.
Doesn't mean they'll actually act on it.

I'd guess it's a feature Galaxy will eventually add, when is anyone's guess.

Nothing official so far, but I'd wager we'll see something once the client becomes stable enough.

Gog is super slow, so it could take months or years.
If you really fed up and don't care too much about DRM, just use Steam.
(but don't regret it aftwerwards!)
With any luck this type of hell will never make it here. How complicated is it to copy and paste, that we should now put everything on web servers. Wonder how many people were thankful that their saves weren't on Game for Windows dead for instance.

Cloud saves are great, a friend recently needed to do a reinstall.
Didn't need to backup saves due to cloud saves.

Cloud <insert term> is bad. It both reduces the need to know something yourself, i.e. making people lazy, and puts the power into other peoples hands. One day, when you lose all your saves, or all your pictures or something else you may understand this notion. It also maintains a world where nothing matters, a brief example - I recently spoke to a friend who told me they were getting a new phone as they had filled all the picture space on it up, so they were getting a new phone but everything was on the net. Do we think that is good? No, they have zero understanding of what is going on, thus they are wasting money and resources, and eventually the site will close and they will lose it all.

As long as it's optional, it doesn't really matter if more people think it's bad (and I don't think that's the case).
You might not actively support this idea, but there's no reason for you to oppose it.

Oooh, I know this feeling. Was 50+ hours into a game, with my weekly backup being 3 days ago, so about 20 hours off, when my computer managed to fry itself. Luckily, the game did use cloud saves, so I still had access to those.

The cloud is not the backup solution. The cloud is a backup solution. And as anyone who knows how to take backups will tell you, one backup is no backup.

P.S. About your friend's phone example, if everything was on the net, his phone wouldn't have had all its space filled up. The stuff was both on the net and on the phone. Something about not understanding how something works and being too lazy to figure it out?
