On the steam version you could friend people in the rift was this function not included in the gog version? Or am I missing something?

when u pick the forum option on a game you go to the forum of said game not a general forum

That's what it does for me. If I go to my account, click on a game and choose "Forum" in the "More" dropdown, I am taken to that game's specific forum, not the general forum.

Are you using Galaxy? I believe that could be the issue, if so. Seems to me a lot of the Witcher 3 players that were using Galaxy ended up on the general discussion forums as well when they posted for help.
