Sure, that'd be fine since they don't really fit on the other itch.io thread and it'd be pretty silly to create ANOTHER giveaway thread for that haha. :)
free weekend: Hood: Outlaws & Legends end in like 2days
Stellaris is undergoing a free event to celebrate its 3.1 "Lem" patch.

I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys strategy games, especially those of the 4X and grand strategy variety. If not for nostalgia toward the Total Annihilation series, Stellaris would be my favorite strategy game.
World War II grand strategy game, Hearts of Iron IV is currently running a free weekend.
Just noticed this, hopefully I'm posting this right -
Desperados 3 is free for the next few days too. Also from THQ Nordic you can grab Jagged Alliance Gold and Titan Quest for free, but more permanently.

JakobFel: Free trials/free events are great ways for people to give a game a try before deciding to actually buy the product. They're also great for discovering games that one might otherwise pass up.
A semantics question: why is the word "free" there? Is there such a thing as a paid-for demo? (trial/event, whatever you want to call it)

There were some paid demos for the PS1 and PS2, from what I've seen. Itchio also lets you make demos be paid or have their base price free but still purchasable.

It's just what they call it lol, I have no clue why they use "free" other than for marketing purposes to attract more people.
Super Mega Baseball 3 is currently running a free weekend!
Two free weekends this time around!

- Fallout 76 (I highly recommend it. Ignore the hate, it's literally Fallout 4 online, with more content. Give it a try if you enjoy Fallout in general.)

- Riders Republic
RiMS Racing is running a free trial event!
Many apologies for dropping the ball on this thread! I've been well occupied in the real world so I haven't been on GOG much at all. Anyways, it appears that Star Citizen is free to try until December 1st!
This weekend, it seems there are three different free trial events!

- Europa Universalis IV
- Dying Light
- Chivalry 2
