Raptisoft, who some of you may know for his iOS games Solomon's Keep and Solomon's Boneyard, has released the nearly-finished and sadly abandoned beta version of his most recent game, Solomon Dark, for free. If you've never heard of it, think of it as Diablo meets Crimsonland!
Here's a gameplay trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBdHFPwd0gs

It's basically an arena "shooter" in which you can play mages of different elements, leveling up, finding new items and later on even mixing different elements. In between runs you visit the mages' college to get a few permanent and temporary bonuses. That sounds a bit like a roguelike, but most of the actual progress really comes from getting more experienced with all the skills yourself, as well as finding some helpful items you can carry over to successive runs.

Even though it's a beta version it runs very well. The official download was only up for few hours to save on bandwidth, but I've put together a list of safe download links on the official forums here: http://raptisoft-forums.com/discussion/264/solomon-dark-download-links-and-gameplay-trailer

By the way, I have nothing to do with Raptisoft, I just happen to be extremely fond of this game :) Also looking very promising is his remake of Solomon's Keep, which is currently on Greenlight: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=787584431 Alas, that won't be out until next year.

by any chance, are you from.. SYRIA?... o.O
and if so, are you against or for Assad?
I'm actually from Germany, but.. that wasn't a serious question, was it?

That's ciomalau you're talking to. You don't even want to know. Trust me when I tell you it's best to just completely ignore him and move on.
I see, should've known better I guess.. I'm not on the general forums much :)

So, no interest in the game, huh? Shame, you're missing out :D

after i saw that guy from Faggistan here on forum, anything can happen!
Looks interesting. From what I can see, it's basically just an expansion of the original iOS games. To be honest, I would suggest that the lack of excitement is due to the fact that it's a game from a series and a developer of two games that probably didn't sell very well at all, given that mobile (iOS in particular, Android less so due to the ubiquity) as a paid gaming platform is pretty much dead, with fewer than half of games released on iOS breaking the $10,000 threshold.

The website states that Solomon's Keep is coming to PC at some point - if so, I'd be interested to see it.

I'm not so sure about that, I think to people who play on iOS somewhat frequently it might be rather well known. But, I wouldn't expect many of these to be active around forums like this one.
Rather, I thought polished free PC games in general might garner more interest, but I guess in days like these, with backlogs of dozens of games being regular, that just isn't the case :)

Indeed, I've linked the Greenlight page of its remake in the opening post, which includes a first (very early) trailer.
