I'm not sure what you're asking. Barefoot Monkey added the ability to add 'foes' to an ignore list. GOG has done nothing, as usual, even though they really ought to pay him for his services -- Barefoot Essentials is actually essential to the forums at this point.

And should one suggest "better and more ethic gaming journalism" battle cry has a curious tendency to mainly find non-journalists for intense and negative scrutiny... and have no [i] other [i/] "cause célèbres", in fact... down-rep, double time!

If one were source-uncritical, one might think this is "J'accuse" 2K, except even more turbo! ;-p


Are you asking for all reasonably presentenced opinions to flourish equitably? Or just gog.com critical ones?


I just think that if gog.com wants it, a moderation system can be implemented. And self regulation will not work because the most thuggish sort will in any case be most vocal. What does it matter if down-rep behaviour is "publicized" if mobbing those who think different is not viewed as poorly behaviour?

Say people down-rep on homophobic / female gaming grounds. Solidarity of gaming immersion is viewed as stupid value and homophobia cum sexism a great one? Rep does not change what is fundamentally right, and what is nasty forum behaviour.


I have this possibly "I am getting old and sentimental" feeling that these fora were more chill and diverse a couple of years back. Yet here I still persist, at least until I see if TW3 is okei or second strike out for a game-world.

Ah the Rep of the Beast, those were the days :)

I had a big whinge about rep months ago, and given I am a slow learner with some things, it took me a while to realise that it was a waste of energy. Being upset about losing rep was merely an outlet for unhappiness within that had nothing to do with rep whatsoever. Losing something far more important always helps me to put life in perspective.

Whilst transparency regarding rep changes would be nice, it won't solve the issue. Removing rep altogether would remove these dramas, and allow everyone to enjoy other dramas :P

Btw, about the rep transparency, I think it would just create more mess, due to rep wars or derep fear.

Removing it, instead, wouldn't be a solution either, because scammers would become indestinguishable from valid goggers.

The biggest problem here is just the rep abuse through alts by a few bad apples.
