What would you all think if I made a QC to discuss The Americans game yogs is a part of, then msging those who ask for the link? Would that be "okay" (obviously yogs isn't allowed) ? If so, would anyone be interested in talking about it there that I should do it?

I'm really not sure why he wouldn't be allowed. It's not like we'd have knowledge that he doesn't, or that the dead players would show up in it.
I honestly think this could be accomplished just by opening up a thread here in GOG.

Good idea, I like it. Do it! Do it!

Unless you are KGB scum P_P Then I want full political immunity for whatever I may say out loud.

The reason why it should not be a gog thread and why it is not allowed is one of the rules ;-)
6.4 - Out of Game Communication: Players may not discuss the game outside of the routes provided to them by the GMs.

You seem to follow mafia so well but why don't you ever play?

That's a very good question, wonder what we have to do to get Moonshineshadow in.

yogsloth: If anyone is interested, I'm participating in a practice game for the tourney here.

I intend to try my "barrel into the room and start smashing shit" technique and see how it plays.
Just saw this. Need to check the game out.

GO yogsloth!

Because that would be a disaster ;-)
I played once in the offline world. And well, let's say it ended as "fantastic" as the one time a joined a roleplay session :D
It is just not for me. But I enjoy reading the games :-)

People say that live mafia is not the same as forum mafia, so why not give it a try? I'm pretty sure you're going to do just fine, and we'd love to have you.

You make it sound like local games aren't already disasters. :-)

It is very different than RL mafia (at least people say so) and you have already more experience than most people who joined their first game.

While I haven't played RL Mafia game, I have seen a bunch of people playing the game. It's very, very different from what forum Mafia games turn out to be.

You must give it a try!

This is ambiguous. I read it as "People who are taking part of the same game can't discuss it with each other outside the official channels". I'd say Yog talking about it with us should be perfectly fine, if he desires so.

It's not THAT different, especially the simpler setups. Yes, it has more tempo and people tend to be more bloodthirsty there but that mostly when more of the players are newer and less experienced. Some lynch left and right because it's fun, others no-lynch for days while getting picked off one by one because they can't fathom the idea that a mislynch is not automatically a bad thing. Often the game is played at parties where people are under the influence and play just to have fun.

Serious games with serious players aren't too different from the ones we have here, though. As a matter of fact I'm considering making my game a mirror to one of the actual rl setups I played.

Well, you obviously know more than I do. The few games I've seen were pretty fast, with lynches done left and right. What those games lacked the most, compared to forum ones, was the role play.

It would be indeed interesting to see that setup of yours in play!

We actually used to role play a lot more in rl games. It was part of the rules for everyone to introduce themselves with some made up story. It does add to the fun aspect but I stronly feel it takes away from the actual gameplay (the serious aspect, that is). People tend to get distracted and the game suffers from it, in my opinion. The worst part is that more often than not players lose games by accident and for the worst possible reasons because of role playing. Last but not least, not everyone is able to come up with flavor on the fly. Some aren't creative enough, others don't care about it at all and are less likely to play because of it. And then there are the ones who are terrified by acting in front of others. Role-playing is not for everyone.
I'll keep it clean. You guys have fun in whatever thread you make - I'll stay out until I'm dead.

After all.... you don't know if I'm KGB. :)
