Murder on the Wing
The location is Grace of God hospital. You’re trapped on a hospital wing that has been quarantined due to some unspecified crisis.
The amount of flavor in this game will be middlin’, however every player will receive a custom-written PM (of varying length) to start the game, and also some PM at the conclusion of each night, regardless of whether they performed/received an action.

Welcome to the signup thread for GOG Forum Mafia #38, aka “Murder on the Wing” aka “GOGeral Hospital”
This is the place where you can sign up for the next edition of our little game, chirp each other, and generally misbehave until the game launches. Moreso than the standard disclaimer, if this is your first time ever, I would strongly recommend following at least one game in real-time before signing up.
Please be willing to commit to active play. Posting is required at least once every 36 hours unless “real life” absence is discussed beforehand. I will be liberal with my prods, and will be sorely tempted to begin modkilling players capriciously. Day cycles will be relatively short compared to a typical game.
The speed is intended, and the expectation that there will be mistakes is part of the intended balance. Like a hockey practice, it’s less important that you do something perfectly, than that you succeed or err moving at full speed, and if you totally screw up, well, have a chuckle, get back up and keep going. Vote early & vote often, as they say.
Overall game length should be about 2-3 weeks barring a surprise - not quite a sprint, but relatively unlikely to turn into a marathon either. An aperitif, perhaps. Deadlines will generally be set around noon pacific / 7 PM GMT.
This game will feature at least one element that falls under “bastard modding,” so while a newbie perspective might possibly create an opportunity to see the game with fresh eyes, it may just be confusing and make you less inclined to come back. If you are a first-timer interested in jumping in, PM me and I’m happy to discuss whether you’re more likely to enjoy it or hate it.
You may also sign up to be either an alternate or an observer. Alternates will be asked to follow the game in order to step in if a replacement player is needed. Observers will be granted access at Mod discretion to the observer thread (“The Waiting Room”) to follow the game, taunt, and generally embarrass themselves and the players in real-time.
Bler is mod and adalia is assistant Mod. adalia has read/critiqued/”approved” the setup and opening PMs, but any mistakes and flaws are my fault alone. He can assist with general game questions, vote counts, and select other tasks. Specific questions (or complaints) about your PM/role should be addressed to me.
Disclaimer:
Repeat, this game has at least one aspect that falls firmly under bastard modding. The game is theoretically “balanced” for factions, not for individual players. You individually may be the hero, or may be cannon fodder.
There is, however a typical “town” and the typical mechanics that fall out of that, including a standard, if fast, day/night cycle with some roles allowing actions beyond just gabbing/voting. There is a way for town to at least potentially “break the game,” however that’s perhaps not incidental, and at least in theory scum have some knowledge or other counters to prepare for that eventuality. It will be up to them to gauge how to play accordingly for that risk.
One more hint - at least in the 11 player setup, there is no role that is “purely” vanilla. While I take full responsibility for the setup, I do think that once D1 dawns, the game will be won/lost depending on the collective result of how players play out the hand they each draw.
Approach it with an open mind and I think you will find the experience quite smurfy when all is revealed.
If you have any questions pertaining to info that would help you determine whether you want to / should play, please feel free to ask them here.
