Sachys: doesnt surprise me - now please take your Thatcher fascination back to your own forums (of which you are all too fond of reminding us are so superior to this one) and quit this one that only requires moderation when we end up with someone begging for moderation when we do not need moderation by someone such as yourself because thats the most moderate thing that can be done!

Also, Geoff says "Hello" and "He is a buffoon!" (in regards to you).
That's what I can't figure out. If I hated this place as much as he does I wouldn't come in here. That just totally boggles my mind (which really isn't that hard to do now that I mention it). Yes we all bitch and moan about things in here from time to time but that's not why we come here.

I can only guess its a form of extensive masochism involving unbranded butter substitute, crudely cut out pictures of Margaret Thatcher and visiting this forum demanding moderation.

Guess its too niche to google a video of?! O____o
TheJoe is TheMan. Fuck y'all.

ps i love you joe
XD Okay, well I refuse to go to war over this. It's a gaming forum. :P
Unless i missed the answer - why is this taking place?

HypersomniacLive: A couple of hours ago you did something that broke all the avatars. Up to that moment, the account pages were recognised as being fully secure (https). After the avatars were restored, along with the new Galaxy login screen, the account pages are broken, as the avatars are over plain http.
I can’t reproduce it: avatars on the forum are served through HTTP (unencrypted), but on the account page everything is delivered through SSL encryption, including images.

I use HTTPS-Everywhere (on Iceweasel/Firefox) with a custom rule to enforce HTTPS on www.gog.com, but nothing about images.gog.com, so I don’t think the use of this plug-in is relevant here.

Probaby to attract TW3 buyers who aren't GOG customers to GOG.

Ciris: I'm sorry, I was just trying to humorously explain an issue to lighten the mood, since I can't actively do anything about it at this moment (and wouldn't know how to go about it myself).

In case of any issues with the site or games or anything else, support is the #1 place to go. Additionally, I'll ask internally if there's any issue we know of that's causing that to happen.
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Humour is fine so long as actual work is seriously done to address the issues that are cropping up, and that's something you don't communicate. GOG support sends out canned replies apologising for any inconvenience, all the while you proceed with changes that cause more issues.
How long is it now that the account button is broken on secure pages that have not been revamped?

A couple of hours ago you did something that broke all the avatars. Up to that moment, the account pages were recognised as being fully secure (https). After the avatars were restored, along with the new Galaxy login screen, the account pages are broken, as the avatars are over plain http. It's not particularly reassuring to see that one's account is not 100% secure. If GOG is not aware of this, then the web devs are doing an even poorer job than I thought.

As for my question on whom to contact - I'm well aware that the channel is support, but I was hoping for some direction as to what to pick from the limited menu that GOG support offers so that we won't have to wait for weeks for a reply and a fix.
Alright, I'll make sure all my further replies are devoid of any and all humour whatsoever and that everything is serious.

The bug you are writing about is not related to the account merge. We know about the problem and we will fix it as soon as we can.

Ciris: If you don't have a CD PROJEKT RED account - this does not affect you.

In short, CD PROJEKT RED is our "sister company", if I may - we are parts of the same business group. We share an office building and do Witcher-y stuff together from time to time, and generally are good friends. :)

Gnostic: Ahh Haa so I caught JudasIscariot lies

You team is doing Witcher-y stuff from time to time, especially in the motion capture studio
By Witcher-y stuff I meant things like the recent Q&A that we (co-)organised, or having a special page for the game's pre-orders and stuff like that - CD PROJEKT RED are the only ones working on actually MAKING the game ;)

Alright, I've talked to some people this morning - and here's the result - another dose of FAQ/frequently reported issues answers :)

1) Why is this happening?

For convenience - both our and users'. We're basically one "company" (well, business group), so there's no reason to keep our customer bases separate if they often greatly overlap.

2) This caused a bug, avatars are broken!

That is a bug. It is an unrelated bug. We're working on getting that bug fixed soon.

3) Spambots have taken over subforums!

We know about the spam issue and are working out a way to most effectively battle it. In the meantime, we also might be gathering forces militia-style among us blue-texts to grab our banhammers and ride out. At dawn, look to the east!

4) How about HTTPS? It doesn't work on every single page.

I've asked the devs about this one - all pages that hold any sort of sensitive data are encrypted. User requests to make EVERYTHING HTTPS are being heard, and will be implemented - it's not a simple click of one button, but it's something we do plan on doing.

5) The login bug!

We know how annoying it is to keep seeing "sign up or log in" instead of your "account" tab and we're working on getting it fixed it's on the "sooner rather than later" list, to quote our Website Overlord ;)

That's the info I've gathered up thus far, I'm not editing it into the main post as it doesn't have to do directly with the forum merge itself.

Thank you for the info gathering. :)
It's great to have stuff cleared up a bit.

I thought you said there will be no more humor in your posts. ;)

I am sure you know that this has been going on for over a week now right, so why are you still just considering banning spam accounts for the time being instead of actually doing it? The most effective way to battle this issue is not by procrastinating and waiting for forum members to report as well as get rid of all the spam threads on a daily basis until a proper solution is implemented.

Also when I say "you" I mean "GOG", it is just that you are our line of contact with GOG and that is why we voice all our concerns to any blue text that posts here which may seem agitated or harsh but is really nothing personal. Just some frustration with the lack of action so far on these really annoying issues that need to be dealt with more efficiently. Thanks for your efforts in conveying our grievances and gathering this information for us Ciris, we only want clear communication from GOG's end regarding any progress with these problems now and again instead of radio silence. :)

I'd assume GoG staff would rather find a solution that prevents spambots to even being able to post in the first place rather than wasting a full time job to continuously ban spamers and remove spam posts.

I'm sorry, it seems you misinterpreted my incredibly serious post as humour. I should now get offended. But I'm too lazy to do that, so you're good!

We do realise that the spambots have been attacking for a while. Unfortunately, as you may know, our spam filtering/reporting/modding system is not perfect - so it's been tough reacting in a way that doesn't involve deleting stuff thread by thread (at least for me, who doesn't know how websites' innards and back-end systems work). However, so as not to leave you empty-handed, here's a thread in which I vow to battle spam one thread at a time, as my own time allows!
