To the GOG Staff,

Please remove or disable the voting system here on the forums. There's nothing beneficial to such a system existing. The "likes" or upvoting is fine, but downvoting is just a way for people to deplatform other users and silence people within the community that they don't like. This system is clearly being abused and you know it.

It's time for action and to have this disabled or removed. You want the community forums to be the most welcome place possible, but when new potential customers visit these forums and see the toxic posting, threads that are entirely downvoted, people who're targeted and downvoted no matter what they say, then it doesn't really make for a very welcoming place, now does it?

About a week ago or so when I was trying to correct misinformation in defense of GOG I couldn't do such, because I was not able to post links in messages I make. Yesterday I had an issue / question about a EULA that popped up out of the blue when starting a game that has been out for 6 months, and I couldn't make an attachment with the screenshot showing it.

These are issues, and my experience with GOG and your forums are compromised because of people abusing this voting system. You're aware that this is happening and I urge you to fix it.

I've spent a lot of money on GOG since October 2020, so I support this store. I'm always talking highly about GOG to other PC gamers and trying to encourage people to buy here and support pro-consumer stores. I take time out of my day every month to reach out to developers and studios to request GOG releases. It probably won't help, especially if others aren't willing to do the same, but at least I'm doing something.

But I'm just tired of the abuse I take on these forums with all my posts getting downvoted when it has nothing to do with what I say. It doesn't make me feel good buying here, and I hate even posting here now, because I know I'm going to immediately get downvoted by people abusing and manipulating the system. If you're not willing to fix these issues then I will making purchases on other stores going forward. I'll treat your non-action as you not caring about my experience and the countless others who're experiencing the same thing.

I understand this can't and won't happen overnight, but I expect this voting system to be removed or disabled by the end of this year. I feel that should be enough time for such a change. If it's not that is when I will cut my ties with GOG and will move to Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The voting system is being weaponized and abused. That is not okay. The cyber-bullying, the deplatforming of others, and the abuse that people take here because of the voting system is unacceptable.

I hope you will take this feedback to heart, and consider it moving forward. I will continue to make purchases here until the end of the year with titles that I've had on my wishlist and suprise releases I'm interested in. However, If nothing has been done by that point to satisfy my concerns, then that is when I will regretably be forced to cut my ties with GOG.

Thank you to the GOG staff for reading my concerns. I know you guys do the absolute best you can, and I'm so appreciative to you all for that. I just want GOG to be a better and more welcoming place for everyone. A place where people aren't afraid to post because of bullying or being deplatformed, because of people abusing and weaponizing a voting system that shouldn't exist today. At the very least you could remove the restrictions that people with negative rep have to deal with.

Thank you again for your time, and God bless you all.

I second this.
(But why not a community request instead?)
It's been also said over and over again, sadly
