my favs are quite plentyful, and i do appreciate more than just actionmovies and stuff like that, but i think my favs will look like as if only watch movies where stuff blows up :P
- rambo 1-4 (i like the intelligent first, the actionfests of 2+3, and the bitter mix in 4
- rocky 1-6 (here too i like the chracter driven ones as much as the 80s nobrainers like 4, and i consider 6 as a gift for the fans)
- die hard 1-4 (who doesnt like mcclane?)
- indiana jones trilogy (shh!)
- fist of the north star (the anime from 86, i like every FotNS, but thats the anime movie, and its a movie thread ^^)
- the good, the bad and the ugly (best western of all times)
- blade runner (the final cut, i have the box with every version in it, but the final cut all the way)
- HEAT (i would consider that a perfect movie)
- conan the barbarian (you watch it because you expect dumb action, and you get hooked because its a REALLY good movie)

last movie i saw was star trek 3 i think, its one of the worst from the old crew, but i still like it

i heavily recommend everybody who has never seen it to watch HEAT, best michael mann movie in my opinion, its charakter driven, has legendary actors, believable charakters, a tense plot, all the drama, and one of the best shootouts ever captured on film, thats crime at its best
Last things i saw? Hmm..

Fillers and throw-aways:
-Inception, horrible obvious crap.
-Salt, by the numbers nuclear threat flick, with hillarious English by Daniel Olbrychski, Poles are probably getting the best of this one.

Recommendations:
-The A Team, didn't like the series, love the movie, over the top, absurd, hillarious, action flick.
-Hardware, a post nuclear mandatory movie.

Bonus Track:
-The Flintstones, an XXX Parody, well, Pebbles was hot,

We have Movie nite on Fridays and just watched How to Train Your Dragon with our 8 year old. I loved it. If you have kids watch this movie.
Made my wife wife watch Dark City : Directors Cut. Outstanding movie, if you are a film geek who likes commentary I would say the Ebert commentary on the disc is worth listening too.

Virama: I agree. That is the reason I just DO NOT understand the Saw and Hostel hype. WTF. I watched the first Hostel and just... Kinda felt sad that someone actually thought it was a good idea and that millions of someones thought it was a great movie. What a disgrace.
Have you seen the first Saw? I'm not saying it's great, but it's miles above the rest of them, and doesn't rely on violence as a key element.

i think the first "saw" was a really good movie, everything that followed was awful crap
Thanks for that...I'll finally get around to seeing Saw. Wasn't planning on it because of the other craptacular installments.
Just saw 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.' It's a great mystery/thriller.

Legend of the Eight Samurais - orignal Japanese version with subtitles... one of my favourites
Recently, went to the theatre to see "Beck", the live movie from the manga by Harold Sakuishi, about a rock band. Awesome. Simply, awesome. The concert scenes are so well shot that you think you're there, in the crowd. I wanted to go pogo all the way in the theatre, then I remembered I was in Japan ^_^ But seriously, a hell of a good movie, with very talented actors. The odds the movie arrives in Europe or America are very low, at least for a theatre release, but I wish it will. If it's a dvd-only release, go for it anyway. It's that good.

Saw Hancock and Kick Ass on DVD. Loved both, but Hancock more than Kick Ass. Man, Will Smith IS a good actor ! Kick ass was funny, way better than what I could read of the original comic, in fact.

Soon, I'll go to theatre again to watch "Space Cruiser Yamato", the live movie from the anime series, based on a manga work from Leiji Matsumoto (Galaxy Express 999, Captain Harlock, the Daft Punk movie).

I agree. The only Saw I've seen was the first Saw. It was terrible. If it's miles above the rest of them, well then, I guess I'm glad not to have seen the rest. And that new Saw 3D trailer is nauseating.
